CONTRACT

WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth (the "CITY") and EDAW, Inc. (the
"CONSULTANT") made and entered into City Secretary Contract No. 25669 (the
"CONTRACT") on the 15"' day of February, 2000; and
WHEREAS, the Contract involves Planning, Urban Design, and Engineering
services for the following project:
Redesign of Lancaster Avenue from I-35 to Henderson Street and other
related street improvements on Main Street, Jennings Street, and
Hemphill Street
WHEREAS, it has become necessary to amend said Contract to include an
increased scope of work and revised maximum fee;
NOW THEREFORE, the CITY and the CONSULTANT acting herein by and
through their duly authorized representatives, enter into the following agreement which
amends the Contract:

Attachment A as referenced in Article I of the Contract is amended to include the
additional urban design and traffic engineering services specified in a proposal letter dated
August 25, 2000, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein. The cost to
the CITY for the additional services to be performed by the CONSULTANT is $24,000.
Article II of the Contract is amended to provide for an increase in the maximum fee
to be paid to the CONSULTANT for all work and services performed under the Contract,
as amended, so that the total fee paid by the CITY for all work and services shall not
exceed the sum of$1,117,500.

All other provisions of the Contract, which are not expressly amended herein, shall
remain in full force and effect.

Thank you for your attention to our request for a contract amendment in the
amount of$24,000.00 for additional urban design and traffic engineering
services.
The amount would be appropriated as:
■ $16,000 for additional urban design work, in association with Fred Kent
and Project for Public Spaces, for additional consulting on workshops #2
in Fort Worth, #3 in Atlanta and#4 in Fort Worth.
■ $8000 for additional traffic engineering services in association with Rick
Chellman for additional consulting on mobility analysis with Garcia and
Associates and Rick's attendance at Workshop #2 in Fort Worth.

CONTRACT WITH EDAW, INC. IN ASSOCIATION WITH GIDEONTOAL FOR THE
REDESIGN OF LANCASTER AVENUE FROM 1-35W TO HENDERSON STREET, AND
RELATED STREET IMPROVEMENTS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute an amendment to City
Secretary Contract (No. 25669) with EDAW, Inc. in association with GideonToal in the amount of
$24,000 for additional urban design and traffic engineering services, thereby increasing the contract
amount to $1,117,500.
DISCUSSION:
On February 15, 2000 (M&C C-17866), the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute a
contract in the amount of $1,093,500 with EDAW, Inc. in association with GideonToal for the redesign
of Lancaster Avenue from 1-35W to Henderson Street, and related street improvements.
The City also proposed to retain $46,500 in the project account for contingency costs, and $60,000 for
engineering services to be provided by the Engineering Department.
During the urban design phase, the scope of services was expanded to include additional urban design
and traffic engineering services. EDAW, Inc. requests that $24,000 be transferred from the project's
contingency costs account as compensation for the additional scope of services. Staff considers this
amount to be reasonable for the scope of services proposed.
This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICTS 8 and 9.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:
The Finance Director certifies that funds are available in the current capital budget, as appropriated, of
the Street Improvements Fund.
