(City Project No. 02432) DISCUSSION: In response to the Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) call for projects under its 2017 Green Ribbon Landscaping Planting Program, Staff requested and was awarded a grant in the amount of$400,000.00 to fund the construction of new landscape and irrigation improvements at the Montgomery Street/interstate Highway 30 Interchange. The Green Ribbon Landscaping Planting Program allocates funds for landscaping activities including the planting and establishment of native and adapted trees and plants on state highways. Eligible projects must be located on a state highway within the right-of-way and be under contract with TxDOT by August 31, 2018. Under the TxDOT Green Ribbon Program, the City is responsible for all of the costs for design, environmental documentation, right-of-way acquisition and utility relocations as required. These costs are included in Freese and Nichols, Inc., design contract. The State will provide funding in the amount of$400,000.00 and provide construction phase services after the Advance Funding Agreement and design plans are approved. The City will be responsible for the maintenance of the landscaping after construction. Upon completion of the maintenance period by TxDOT's contractor, the Park and Recreation Department (PARD) will provide the annual maintenance for this project at an estimated cost of$80,000.00. http://apps.cfwnet.org/council_packet/mc_review.asp?ID=2553 9&councildate=4/17/2018 4/18/2018 M&C Review Page 2 of 2 The Agreement with Freese and Nichols, Inc., will provide professional services for the design of the IH-30 Green Ribbon Project at Montgomery Street in conjunction with the 2014 Bond Program.
