HomeMy WebLinkAboutContract 52269STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY SECRETARY CONTRACT NO. 5 as (Oq CONTRACT FOR SALE OF VEHICLE WHEREAS TARRANT COUNTY, acting by and through the Tarrant Regional Auto Crimes Task Force, was awarded ownership to a 1999 White Chevrolet 2500 Pickup identified by VIN number 1GCGC24U5XE209309 on June 20, 2018; WHEREAS TARRANT COUNTY has no interest in this vehicle for law enforcement purposes, however the CITY OF FORT WORTH (Police Department) a participating agency in the Task Force does; WHEREAS the CITY OF FORT WORTH desires to purchase the vehicle and assume full responsibility for its ownership; WHEREAS TARRANT COUNTY does not currently need the vehicle nor is it anticipated that the vehicle will be required for TARRANT COUNTY's foreseeable needs, but the vehicle is not salvage property or an item that is routinely discarded as waste, but possesses some usefulness for its intended purpose; WHEREAS TARRANT COUNTY, acting by and through the Tarrant County Commissioners Court, considers the vehicle to be surplus property as defined in Texas Local Government Code §263.151 (2); and desires to sell the vehicle to the CITY OF FORT WORTH pursuant to Texas Local Government Code § 263.152 (a) (1); NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises stated above, TARRANT COUNTY and the CITY OF FORT WORTH agree as follows: 1. The CITY OF FORT WORTH shall purchase the above -referenced vehicle for $1.00 (one dollar) by tendering this amount to TARRANT COUNTY through the Tarrant County Purchasing Agent within thirty days after this agreement is signed by both parties; 2. TARRANT COUNTY shall sell the above -referenced vehicle by endorsing and tendering the proper title certificate upon receipt of $1.00 from the CITY OF FORT WORTH. BACKGROUND: A 1999 Chevrolet Pickup was awarded to the Task Force. Tarrant County does not have a need for this truck and considers it surplus. The Fort Worth Police Department, a participating agency of the Task Force has a legitimate law enforcement need for the vehicle. The City of Fort Worth agrees to purchase the vehicle for $1.00. After payment is received, the title will be transferred to the Fort Worth Police Department pursuant to Texas Local Government Code 263.152 (1). FISCAL IMPACT: This action will have no fiscal impact to the County's FY 2019 General Fund. The proceeds will be deposited to the Task Force's generated program income account in the manner prescribed in the Texas Auto Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority Administrative Guidelines.
