La�kv%e Beo- l n w WHEREAS, the City and the BGCGFW entered into an Agreement identified as City Secretary Contract No. 28200 for a period beginning October 1, 2002 and ending September 30, 2003 a and WHEREAS, it is the mutual desire of the parties to continue said City Secretary Contract No. 28200, that its term be renewed for a period of time beginning October 1, 2008 and ending on September 30, 2009; and WHEREAS, the City has received funds from the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention District to support the extension of this contract; NOW THEREFORE, KNOW ALL BY THESE PRESENT: 1. City Secretary Contract No. 28200 currently on file in the office of the City Secretary of the City of Fort Worth, is hereby renewed and extended in its entirety for a period beginning October 1, 2008 and ending September 30, 2009. 2. City agrees to pay an amount not to exceed $374,782.00 in support of the Safe Haven Program, payments to be made on an on -request basis in advance following receipt of a signed original invoice from the BGCGFW. 3. All other terms, provisions, conditions, covenants and recitals of said City Secretary Contract No. 28200 which are not expressly amended herein shall remain in full force and effect during the term this renewal. 4. The BGCGFW agrees to fully perform, or cause to be performed, with good faith and due diligence, all work and services described in Exhibit A. attached and incorporated herein for all purposes incident to the contract. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth agree to expend the funds herein provided in accordance with the budget attached as Exhibit B. Authorize the City Manager to execute a contract amendment for $374,782.00 with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth to extend the term of the agreement through FY2009 to continue operation of the Safe Haven Program at Polytechnic Martin Boys and Girls Club and Kirkpatrick Middle School; and 2. Authorize the contract to be extended by up to four addenda, agreeable to both pariies, each for aone- year period. DISCUSSION: The Safe Haven Program began in 1992 as part of a Weed and Seed Grant, which expired September 30, 2000, Safe Havens are places where children in targeted neighborhoods play and learn with other children without the fear of being a victim of crime. The Safe Haven Program was first operated in the near southeast part of Fort Worth and was later expanded to the Diamond Hill neighborhood. One site is at Polytechnic Martin Boys and Girls Club, located at 3123 Avenue G, and the other is at Kirkpatrick Middle School. On November 27, 2007, (M&C C-22539) the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute an amendment to extend City Secretary Contract No. 28200 with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth for the operation of the Safe Haven Program with continuing funding of $374,782.00 for FY2008. This Mayor and Council Communication will authorize the amendment of that contract to extend the existing contract terms to FY2009. Funding in the amount of $374,782.00 has been appropriated in the FY2009 Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) budget, as adopted July 8, 2008. Polytechnic Martin Safe Haven is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 8 and the Kirkpatrick Middle School is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 2. FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION: The Finance Director certifies that funds are available, as appropriated in the FY2009 budget of the Crime Control and Prevention District Fund.
