Imo.\ r ran:°°°,rdA Title: Fire Chief Date: AD Description of roles and responsibilities in improving and strengthening emergency management plans at Fort Worth ISD and school -building levels and a description of the partner's commitment to the continuation and continuous improvement of emergency management plans at the Fort Worth ISD and school building levels: The Fort Worth Fire Department and Fort Worth ISD have an excellent ongoing working relationship that involves activities such as CPR/Automated External Defibrillator training at schools, fire prevention training, and annual inspections by local fire companies at all schools. As a part of this grant, the Fort Worth Fire Department and Fort Worth ISD plan the following roles and responsibilities: 1. Fort Worth ISD will consult with the Fort Worth Fire Departments in the development and annual update of emergency management plans to standardize response and ensure seamless coordination with City services as defined Emergency Operations Plans at the district, campus and non-academic facility levels. 2. Fort Worth Fire Department professionals may consult with Fort Worth ISD in the preparation of crisis plans and development under a fee -for -service arrangement to be approved by governing bodies of both entities. 3. Fort Worth Fire Department will participate with planning and development of incident command system structure and practice at the school building level. 4. Fort Worth Fire Department will assist with planning and development of a functional emergency response exercise at a school as a part of their annual mandatory exercise schedule. DISCUSSION: The United States Department of Education (DOE) provides grant funds for the purpose of strengthening schools emergency management plans. The Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) is applying for a Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Grant from the DOE. The goal of the grant is to ensure that FWISD staff is trained in emergency management procedures and collaborates with community partners, including law enforcement, public safety, public health, mental health agencies and local government. The grant application requires separate acknowledgments in the form of Local Government Partner Agreements signed by the Mayor, the Police Chief, the Fire Chief and the City's Emergency Management Coordinator to show the City's commitment to work with the FWISD in improving and strengthening the FWISD emergency management plans.
