CODE: C TYPE: CONSENT PUBLIC NO HEARING: SUBJECT: Authorize Execution of a Contract with Jackson Construction, Ltd., in the Amount of $659,077.50 for the Scott-Sunset Drainage Improvements (COUNCIL DISTRICT 7) RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authorize the execution of a contract with Jackson Construction, Ltd., in the amount of $659,077.50 for construction of the Scott-Sunset Drainage Improvements project. DISCUSSION: The construction contract recommended by this Mayor and Council Communication is for the installation of storm drain pipe, inlets and curb and gutter improvements to correct street flooding on Scott Road and Nursery Lane. Costs for the implementation of this project will be funded by the Storm Water Capital Projects Bond Fund. The project was advertised for bid on May 3, 2012 and May 10, 2012 in the Fort Worth Star- Telectram. On June 14, 2012, the following bids were received: Funding in the amount of $86,500.00 is included for associated construction survey, project management, materials testing, and inspection. The contingency fund for possible change orders is $25,000.00. Jackson Construction, Ltd., is in compliance with the City's M/WBE Ordinance by committing to eight percent M/WBE participation and documenting good faith effort. Jackson Construction, Ltd., identified several subcontracting and supplier opportunities. However, the M/WBEs contacted in the areas identified did not submit the lowest bids. The City's goal on this project is 18 percent. This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 7, Mapsco 61 W and 61X. FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION: The Financial Management Services Director certifies that funds are available in the current capital budget, as appropriated, of the Storm Water Capital Projects Bond Fund.
