Article II of the CONTRACT is amended to provide f or an increase in

Dear Mr. Owen:
Additional services have been requested for the CA Ashland Drainage Improvements Project(Project No.
01918). The additional scope of work includes additional roadway design for the fall block of Ashland between El
Campo and Bryce. The original scope of work nnl °included pavement repair for the portion of the roadway
a
above the drainage improvements, or slightly less than half of a block. when the project was expanded to
include the full block, additional design and coordination effort was required.. The total for the proposed design
services is a lump sum amount of$14,719, and the revised total contract amount is $90,938. Please contact me

SUBJECT.- Authorize Execution olf an Engineering Agreement with Freese and Nichols, Inc. in the
mount of$76,219.00 for Design of the Central,Arlington Height Ashland Drainage
Improvements COUNCIL DISTRICT '7)
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the execution of an Engineering Agreement with
Freese and Nichols, Inc., in the amount of$76,21 9.00 for design, of the Central Arlington Heights
Ashland Drainage Improvements.
DISCUSSION#
The Agreement re�oom endelld by this, Mayor and:, Council Communication will provide engineering
design and construction phase services for the installation of below-street detention in Ashland
Avenue between El Campo Avenue and Bryce Avenue., The improvements will provide additional
flood protection in low intensity storm events. The proposed drainage improvements are anticipated
to he hid and constructed with water and sewer improvements planned in the,Ashland area that are
being designed by another consultant and managed by the Water Department.
Freese and, Nichols, Inc.,,, was selected to design the proposed improvements based on a Request for
Qualifications, F ) process and their successful completion of an extensive drainage study in the
area of Central Arlington Heights.
Freese and Nichols l Inc., proposes to perform the above services for a lump sum fee, of
$76,,219.00. Staff considers the fee to he flair and reasonable for the scope of services proposed.,
Funding for this project is being provided from revenue bonds in the Storm Water Capital Projects
Bond Fund.
In addition to the contract amount, $10,0100.0011 ins, required for project management by the
Transportation and Public Works Department.
Freese and Nichols, Inc., is, in compilliance with the City's M/WBE ordinance by committing to 32
percent MIWBE participation. The pity's,goal on the project is 18 percent..
This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 7, Map co 75G.
