The estimated quantity for the unclassified street excavation exceeded the original quantity. The actual quantity was confirmed from the
project cross -sections by both the contractor and the design engineer. The exisitng storm drain system on Beddell was found to not be working
properly and the storm drain department chose to replace the existing system under a seperate contract. The contractor chosen by the storm
drain department installed the curb inlet bottoms only in accordance with the revised city standard inlet details. The revised inlet details require
a larger inlet than the old standards, which was originally used for this project. Due to the configuration of the proposed inlet tops and the
adjacent drive approaches it has been determined to add the inlet tops to this contract to prevent any installation conflicts betweent the two
contracts and/or contractors.
