CONTRACT NO. 56669 FOR EMERGENCY RENTAL OF THICKENING
EQUIPMENT
In October of 2021,Water Plant Operation requested and received approval for an emergency expenditure
to allow the construction contractor to rent biosolids thickening equipment, in the amount of$850,000.00,
to process primary solids at Village Creek Water Reclamation Facility.A construction project is underway
to replace the existing gravity thickeners with rotary drum thickeners. This process is necessary as it is a
critical downstream element for the feedstock to the biosolids dryer facility.
Although originally estimated to be complete by October of 2022,the construction project is now estimated
to be complete in Spring 2023, thus, there is a need to extend rental of the thickening equipment until
construction of the rotary drum thickeners is complete.
This memo is submitted to request approval to increase the funding for continued rental of solids thickening
equipment by an additional$500,000 to cover the extra time to complete the construction of the new rotary
drum thickeners.
A change order will be processed to the existing emergency contract with Synagro of Texas CDR,Inc.and
actual costs will be reconciled at the end of the project.
