Senior Professional Engineer City of Fort Worth,Transportation and Public Works 1000 Throckmorton Fort Worth,Texas 76102 Re: Burchill Drainage Improvements Project(Project No.01712)—Amendment No. 1 Dear Mr. Owen: Additional services have been requested for the Burchill Drainage Improvements project(Project No.01712). The additional scope of work includes: 1. Additional geotechnical investigations to better understand the subsurface soil conditions within the project limits. It is proposed to increase the number of soil borings from 4 borings to 7 borings. In addition, our geotechnical subconsultant Adulla Consulting Engineers did not renew their MWBE certification and has informed us that they will not be able to participate in this project. In order to meet our MWBE goal, FNI intends to subcontract with Mas-Tek Engineering and Associates, Inc.to complete the geotechnical investigations. The professional services fees for Mas-Tek are higher than the Adulla fees. This modification in fee accounts for the additional borings($6,490) and higher professional fees ($11,715). Amount:$18,205 2. Additional Subsurface Utility Engineering investigations to locate the existing 54" RCCP waterline, 109" arch storm drain line, and other utility conflicts. These explorations are needed to expand on the Level B SUE that was included in the original contract. Defining a more accurate location for these existing utilities during design could reduce potential delays or unexpected costs during construction. Eight(8) additional Level A SUE explorations are included in this scope of work. Amount:$8,800 3. Additional field survey to define the existing topography at the top of the bank along Burchill Channel. As the design progressed, the design concept now includes grading along the south bank of the channel that extends beyond the limits of the original design survey. Amount$2,200 The amounts stated above include a 10%subconsultant markup. The total for the proposed services including additional geotechnical investigations, subsurface utility investigations, and field survey is$29,205. The revised total contract amount is$536,005. Please contact me directly at 817-735-7378 if you require additional information. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Freese and Nichols, Inc.
