Change Order No. 1 will allow for by other than open cut pipe installation across a storm water detention pond
located on Doral Tesoro Golf Club. Subsequent to advertising the project for bid, the Texas Department of
Transportation increased the size of the pond such that a 280 feet segment of the casing pipe could no longer be
constructed by open trench installation as originally proposed.The change order will also allow for the replacement of
sidewalk that is in direct conflict with the pro i .

SUBJECT: Authorize Execution of Change Order No. 1 to City Secretary Contract No. 45302 with S.J.
Louis Construction of Texas Ltd., in the Amount of$212,340.00 for a Revised Total
Contract Amount of$1,261,239.50 for Water Main Relocation on State Highway 114, Part
2, from Championship Parkway to FM 156 (COUNCIL DISTRICT 7)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize execution of Change Order No. 1, to City Secretary
Contract No. 45302 with S.J. Louis Construction of Texas, Ltd., in the amount of$212,340.00 for a
revised contract amount of$1,261,239.50 for Water Main Relocation on State Highway 114, Part 2.
DISCUSSION:
On January 14, 2014, (M&C C-26645)the City Council authorized execution of a contract with S.J.
Louis Construction of TX, Ltd., in the amount of$1,048,899.50 for Water Main Relocation on State
Highway 114, Part 2, from Championship Parkway to FM 156.
Change Order No. 1 will allow for other than open cut pipe installation across a storm water detention
pond located on Doral Tesoro Golf Club. Subsequent to advertising the project for bid, the Texas
Department of Transportation increased the size of the pond such that a 280 foot segment of the
casing pipe could no longer be constructed by open trench installation as originally proposed. The
change order will also allow for the replacement of sidewalk that is in direct conflict with the project
main.
M/WBE Office-S.J. Louis Construction of Texas, Ltd. is in compliance with the City's BDE Ordinance
by committing to four percent MBE participation on this Change Order No. 1.
The project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 7, Mapsco 642Q and 642R.
FISCAL INFORMATIONXERTIFICATION:
The Financial Management Services Director certifies that funds are available in the current capital
budget, as appropriated, of the Commercial Paper Water Fund.
