RE: Village Creek Deep Filters 1-20 Modifications Capital Project No. 01628 F&N No. FTW11104A PCM008A—Filter Handrail Installation Dear Ms. Goderya: Transmitted herewith please find a copy of Pepper-Lawson's June 4, 2014 price proposal for the referenced work. The cost for this work is$34,284.00. No additional Contract Time has been requested. The plant safety group has requested the handrail layout be modified to provide operator access to the air scour valves on nine sidewalks on the filters. The original design intent to keep access limited to competent personnel who would make entry over existing handrails to the valves and electrical panels utilizing personal protective equipment (fall protection). The Operations staff may need access to the air scour valve actuators during weekend and night time operations and requested the safety group to review the proposed handrail improvements and to determine if additional handrail systems were needed. We have reviewed this price proposal and are of the opinion that it is a fair and equitable price. We recommend the City accept this cost and issue a Change Order in the amount of $34,284.00. RE: Village Creek Deep Filters 1-20 Modifications Capital Project No.01628 F&N No. FTW11104A CMR-008 Filter 15-20 Mechanical Piping Painting& Corrosion Protection Dear Ms. Goderya: Transmitted herewith please find a copy of Pepper-Lawson's September 10, 2014 price proposal for the referenced work. The cost for this work is $7,693.00. Five calendar days Contract Time has been requested. Inspection of Filters 15-20 identified several areas of coating damage. While the areas of damage were not deemed severe enough to recommend correction during the design phase of the project, subsequent inspections during construction identified several hidden areas of damage and in particular providing new paint and a grout cant water barrier where the filtered water effluent pipe penetrates the concrete slab will eliminate an ongoing pipe corrosion problem. We have reviewed this price proposal and are of the opinion that it is a fair and equitable price and contract time adjustment. We recommend the City accept this price proposal and issue a Change Order in the amount of$7,693.00 and five days time extension. Please advise if the Water Department desires this CMR be incorporated in a Change Order. Sincerely, FREESE AND NICHOLS, INC. G. E.
