WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth (City) and TranSystems
Corporation, (Engineer) made and entered into City Secretary
Contract No. 31696, (the Contract) which was authorized by the City
Council by M&C C-20631 on the 5th day of April, 2005 and;
WHEREAS, the Contract involves engineering services for the
following project:
Water and Sanitary Replacement for SH 121T (Southwest
Parkway) , Part 1 from Hulen Street to Summit Avenue.
WHEREAS, it has become necessary to execute Amendment No. 1 to
said Contract to include an increased scope of work and revised
maximum fee;
NOW THEREFORE, City and Engineer, acting herein by and through
their duly authorized representatives, enter into the following
agreement which amends the Contract:

Article I, of the Contract is amended to include the addition-
al engineering services specified in M&C C-21176, adopted by the
City Council on 6th day of December 2005, and further amplified in
a proposal letter dated November 2, 2005, copies of which are both
attached hereto and incorporated herein. The cost to City for the
additional services to be performed by Engineer total $49,050.50.

Article II, of the Contract is amended to provide for an
increase in the maximum fee to be paid to Engineer for all work and
services performed under the Contract, as amended, so that the
total fee paid by the City for all work and services shall not
exceed the sum of $707,455.00.

All other provisions of the Contract which are not expressly
amended herein shall remain in full force and effect.

Authorize Execution of Amendment No. 1 to the City Secretary Contract No. 31696 with
TranSystems Corporation for Water and Sanitary Sewer Replacement for SH121T (Southwest
Parkway), Part 1 (City Project No. 00203)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to City
Secretary Contract No. 31696 with TranSystems Corporation in the amount of $49,050.00 to provide for
additional design and survey services, thereby increasing the contract amount to $707,455.00.
DISCUSSION:
On April 5, 2005 (via M&C C-20631), the City Council authorized an engineering agreement with
TranSystems Corporation, in the amount of $658,405.00 for the design of Water and Sanitary Sewer
Relocations for SH 121 T (Southwest Parkway), Part 1.
The project includes the realignment of the segment of sanitary sewer main M-133 that conflicts with the
proposed SH121T (Southwest Parkway).
During the design phase, the Water Department determined that the upstream segment of main M-133 is
severely deteriorated and has requested that the main be replaced in conjunction with this project.
TranSystems Corporation proposes to provide the necessary additional engineering services for a lump
sum fee of$49,050.00. City staff considers this amount to be fair and reasonable.
This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9, Mapsco 75, M, Q and R.

The Finance Director certifies that funds are available in the current capital budget, as appropriated, of the

Dear Mr. Conlon,
We have prepared this amendment request to cover additional sewer lines that the Water
Department wishes to include in our SH 121T contract. In addition to the below
description of the Scope of Work we have also attached a "Preliminary Opinion of
Probable Construction Costs" and an itemized breakout of survey tasks and hours.
1. Surveys Lump Sum $14,530
• Surveys include approx. 36001f of topographic surveys for Vickery Blvd and
Rutledge Street.
2. Final Engineering Design Lump Sum $31,020
Final engineering plans and specifications are proposed for the following Sewer
Main replacement: M-133 from Station 26+62 to Station 62+35.
Preliminary Opinion of Probable Costs $ 414,700
Engineering Design Fee: $414,700 x .088 x .85 = $31,020

We will be using Stream Water Group for engineering and Arlington Blueline for
reproductions to ensure the specified percentage goal of the contract will be performed by
an approved MBE.
