WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth (City) and Transystems
Corporation Consultants. made and entered into City Secretary
Contract No. 27574 , (the Contract) which was authorized by the City
Council by M&C C-18999 on the 19th day of March 2002; and
subsequently revised by one previous amendment; and
WHEREAS, the Contract involves engineering services for the
following project:
Trinity Boulevard Water Main Extension from Greenbelt Road to
State Highway 360
WHEREAS, it has become necessary to execute Amendment No. 2 to
said Contract to include an increased scope of work and revised
maximum fee;
NOW THEREFORE, City and Engineer, acting herein by and through
their duly authorized representatives, enter into the following
agreement which amends the Contract:
1.
Article I of the Contract is amended to include the additional
engineering services specified in a proposal letter dated October
27, 2005, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated
herein. The cost to City for the additional design services to be
performed by Engineer total $24 ,820. 00 .

Article II of the Contract is amended to provide for an
increase in the maximum fee to be paid to Engineer for all work and
services performed under the Contract, as amended, so that the
total fee paid by the City for all work and services shall not
exceed the sum of $455, 615.00 .

All other provisions of the Contract which are not expressly amended
herein shall remain in full force and effect. mm

SUBJECT AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO ENGINEERING AGREEMENT WITH TRANSYSTEMS
CORPORATION CONSULTANTS FOR THE TRINITY BOULEVARD WATER MAIN
EXTENSION FROM GREENBELT ROAD TO STATE HIGHWAY 360
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to
City Secretary Contract No. 27574 with TranSystems Corporation Consultants (the Engineer) in the
amount of $51,600 to provide additional design and survey services on the project, thereby increasing
the contract amount to $430,795.
DISCUSSION:
On March 19, 2002 (M&C C-18999), the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute an
engineering agreement with the Engineer for the Trinity Boulevard water main extension from Greenbelt
Road to State Highway 360.
The original contract provided for the Engineer to investigate two potential alignments for the proposed
water main and to prepare plans and specifications for the selected alignment. It was determined that
neither of the initial alignments would be cost effective because of the existence of previously unknown
and conflicting utility lines in the right-of-way. Staff therefore directed the Engineer to investigate two
additional alignments for the water main. After reviewing the new alternates, an alignment located
within the Dallas Area Rapid Transist (DART) railroad right-of-way was selected for the water main.
This amendment will provide for the following additional services on the project-
1.
roject:1. The preparation of the two additional potential alignments for the water main; and
2. Payment for the traffic control staff to be provided by DART during design survey on DART right-
of-way; and
3. The preparation of storm water pollution prevention plans as will soon be required by the Texas
Commission on Environmental Quality; and
4. Payment for additional effort involved with the design survey within DART railroad right-of-way.
The Engineer proposes to provide the necessary additional design and survey services for a fee of
$51,600.00. Staff considers this amount to be fair and reasonable.
TranSystems Corporation Consultants is in compliance with the City's M/WBE Ordinance by committing
to 5% M/WBE participation. The City's goal on this project is 5%.
