HomeMy WebLinkAboutContract 32657 AMENDMENT NO. 8 STATE OF TEXAS $ CITY SECRETARY CONTRACT NO dw� (M&C Needed) COUNTY OF TARRANT $ WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth (City) and LopezGarcia Group formerly Wendy Lopez & Associates, Inc. , (Engineer) made and entered into City Secretary Contract No. 26994, (the Contract) which was authorized by the City Council by M&C C-18701 on the 9th day of August, 2001 and subsequently revised by seven previous amendments; and WHEREAS, the Contract involves engineering services for the following project: Water and Sanitary Sewer Extension for the Bryson Tract Area (Annexation A-00-23) WHEREAS, it has become necessary to execute Amendment No. 8 to said Contract to include an increased scope of work and revised maximum fee; NOW THEREFORE, City and Engineer, acting herein by and through their duly authorized representatives, enter into the following agreement which amends the Contract: 1 . Article I, of the Contract is amended to include the addition- al engineering services specified in M&C C-21119, adopted by the City Council on the 1st day of November 2005, and further amplified in a proposal letter dated August 31, 2005, copies of which are both attached hereto and incorporated herein. The cost to City for the additional services to be performed by Engineer total $1,615.25. 2. Article II, of the Contract is amended to provide for an increase in the maximum fee to be paid to Engineer for all work and services performed under the Contract, as amended, so that the total fee paid by the City for all work and services shall not exceed the sum of $138,458.61. 3. The additional design services are as described below. A detailed breakdown of the proposed fees for these additional services is also attached. Our proposed engineering fee for the additional work includes the following: 1. Prepare one (1) private service sheet identifying the transfer of water service for Bryson Elementary School from the City of Saginaw water line located along Old Decatur Rd. to the recently constructed City of Fort Worth water line located in Bryson Ln. Please note that in order to minimize cost, no additional field survey will be performed. Instead, the plan sheet will be created from aerial photography with typical measurement call-outs from existing surface features. 2. Prepare an Engineer's Opinion of Probable Construction Cost for the water service transfer. 3. Attend one (1) City of Fort Worth coordination meeting. DISCUSSION: On August 9, 2001, (M&C C-18701) the City Council authorized an engineering agreement with Wendy Lopez and Associates, Inc. (now LopezGarcia Group) in the amount of $67,830.00 for the design of Water and Sanitary Sewer Extension for the Bryson Tract Area (Annexation A-00-23). The project consists of the preparation of plans and specifications for the extension of City water and sanitary sewer mains to serve an annexed area south of Bailey-Boswell Road and west of Old Decatur Road. The agreement was subsequently revised by seven previous amendments in the amount of $69,013.36 as follows: . Amendment No. 1 (City Secretary No. 27541) in the amount of $8,077.00 and administratively approved by the City Manager on March 12, 2002, provided for the change in the alignment of the project sewer main. . Amendment No. 2 (City Secretary No. 27921) in the amount of $17,172.05 and administratively approved by the City Manager on August 20, 2002, provided for the design of additional water and sanitary sewer lines to provide service to new residents within the annexed area. . Amendment No. 3 (City Secretary No. 28316) in the amount of $14,305.55 and administratively approved by the City Manager on January 15, 2003, provided for the redesign of a project sewer main to provide additional capacity to accommodate a proposed development located west of this project. . Amendment No. 4 (City Secretary No. 29043) in the amount of $6,748.88 and administratively approved by the City Manager on September 3, 2003, provided for the preparation of a storm water pollution prevention plan and additional easements on the project. . Amendment No. 6 (City Secretary No. 30417) in the amount of $15,554.08 and administratively approved by the City Manager on August 26, 2004, provided for the preparation of a traffic control plan for the project and the design of additional water and sanitary sewer mains. . Amendment No. 7 (City Secretary No. 31173) in the amount of $4,324.10 and administratively approved by the City Manager on January 13, 2005, provided for the preparation of plans to allow for the reroute of seven residential sanitary sewer service lines from a City of Saginaw sewer main into the new Fort Worth sewer main. This agreement may be administratively amended up to an additional $25,000.00. This amendment will allow for the preparation of drawings for the reroute of the water service line for Bryson Elementary School from a City of Saginaw water main, to the recently completed City of Fort Worth water main located on Bryson Lane. Prior to Annexation A-00-23, Bryson Elementary School was located in the county and was provided water service by the City of Saginaw water main located on Old Decatur Road. LopezGarcia Group proposes to provide the necessary additional engineering services for a lump sum fee of$1,615.25. Staff considers this amount to be fair and reasonable. This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 2, Mapsco 33P.
