BACKGROUND While in the process of constructing the Unit 3 replacement sanitary sewer in 5`h Street at Rosedale, it was discovered that an existing Southwestern Bell conduit in Rosedale Street is at an elevation that conflicts with the proposed replacement sewer. According to city staff, sufficient clearance will be provided once the existing sewer main in Rosedale (M-30) is lowered as part of the Rosedale widening project currently under design by Garcia & Assoc., Inc. Therefore, city staff requested TC&B to redesign the replacement sewer so that the majority of the replacement sewer can be constructed as part of the Unit 3 project and the remaining tie-ins and connections are made as part of the Rosedale project. TC&B will provide the following additional services. • Add a new MH at approximate Sta. 1+00 of the proposed replacement sewer in 5`h Street and provide a stub-out for future connection to the lowered M-30. • Leave stub-outs for service line connections to the proposed replacement sewer. • Prepare sheets for inclusion in Garcia's plans to make downstream connection to the lowered M-30, connection of service laterals to the relocated sewer in 5" Street, and abandonment of existing sewer laterals L-440 and L-463. Douglas Rademaker, Director DOE and Mike Groomer, Assistant City Manager FROM: Tony Sholola, DOE DATE: June 14, 2000 RE: DESIGN FEE AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO MAIN CIC413 DRAINAGE AREA SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM REHABILITATION AND IMPROVEMENTS (GROUP 6, CONTRACT 2), PART 7, DOE NO. 2113, SEWER PROJECT NO. PS46-070460410230 The proposed amendment will allow Turner Collie & Braden, Inc. (TCB) to provide ad- ditional design services on the project as requested by the City. During sewer replacement Unit 3 on 51h Street at Rosedale Avenue, it was determined that an existing SWBT conduit in Rosedale Avenue is in conflict with the sewer line. This conflict will be eliminated once the existing sewer main in Rosedale (M-30) is low- ered as part of the Rosedale widening project which is currently under design by another consultant. Staff therefore requested TCB to redesign the Unit 3 sewer so that the major- ity of the line can be constructed and the remaining tie-ins and connections are made as part of the Rosedale project. Turner Collie & Braden, Inc., has submitted a fee request of$2,570.00 for the additional design services to be provided thereby increasing the contract fee from $239,344.00 to $241,914.00. 1 believe this fee is fair and reasonable. Please authorize the additional design fee by your signature on the attached contract amendment form. cc: John Boyer, Project Manager Berdena Hamilton, Water Department Dan Pepon, Water Department offfl'lcik RECORD rU d I MEMO 2113 M1 ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT THE CITY OF FORT WORTH * 1000 THROCKMORTON STREET * FORT WORTH, TEXAS 76102-6311 (817) 871-7941 * FAx (817) 871-7854 ej Printed on recycled paper
