HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 11161r r. ~ ORDINANCE NO /1~~ 1 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,000 00 FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH A COMMUNITX POLICING SEMINAR; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 1991-92 and in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund in the amount of $6,000 00 for the purpose of funding the costs associated with a Community Policing seminar to be conducted from August 23, 1992 through August 26, 1992 SECTION 2 Should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect SECTION 3 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No 10892 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed SECTION 4 This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY ~2ity t~oYrney f„_ .,.-.` Date U f '~`~"~ Adopted '~ ~ J Effective tiiP$(f(1 FfL~ I ACCOUNTiNG•2 City of Fort worth, Texas TRgNSPCR I.A T:U VIPUBLIC ~VORK3.~ N n l t r~ GG4)1'I ~ i "g1~llyor ~/~ 1I~/~/i~'IV ~'r ~~~~/~ POSICE ACr,;IN:$iHA (IQ h. 1' M/!NAG E p tom,: > 'r DATE REFERENCE NUMBER L NAME PA E E ~ICE ~39/O1/92 ~ G-9805 35SEMIN 1 of 1 SUBJECT COMMUNITY POLICING SEMINAR FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council: 1. Adopt the attached supplemental appropriation ordinance increasing Special Trust Fund estimated receipts and appropriations by $6,000.00 from increased revenue in Awarded Assets, and 2. Approve the use of $6,000.00 from the Special Trust Fund, Awarded Assets, to fund the costs associated with a Community Policing seminar to be conducted from August 23, 1992 through August 26, 1992. DISCUSSION: Dr. Robert Trojanowicz, Director of the National Center for Community Policing at Michigan State University, has agreed to conduct four one-day seminars on community policing at the Police Training Academy. These seminars will cost a total of $11,000 00 and will afford the Police Department the opportunity to train more personnel in the concepts and focus of community oriented policing. The Police Awards Foundation will contribute $5,000 00 towards the total cost of these seminars and the department will use $6,000 00 from Awarded Assets Dr Trojanowicz will cover such topics as the theory, practical implications, elements of community policing, as well as the implementation of this phi]osophy for the Police Department and the community.
