AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE FARES, TOLLS AND
CHARGES FOR LOCAL TELEPHONE SERVICE IN THE
CITY OF FORT WORTH, AND PROVIDING FOR A
PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COHHIMONERS
OF THE CITY OF FORTORTH:
Section 1: It shat hereafter be unlawful for
any person, firm, association or corporation engaged in the business
of furnishing local telephone service in the City of Fort Worth to
charge more for such local service than the rates herein fixed
and set out.

corporation now or hereafter engaged in the business of furnishing
local telephone service in the City of Fort Worth, shall be
limited in their charges to, and shall charge and collect, for
said telephone service, the following fares, tolls and charges:
Two Dollars ($2.00) flat rate, per month for
residence telephonejj
Fifty Cents (50¢) flat rate per month for auxiliary
residence telephones.
Five Dollars ($5.00) flat rate, per month for
business telephones.
One Dollar ($1.00) flat rate per month for auxiliary
business telephones.
By the word 'residence," as used in Section 2 of
this Ordinance, is4meant a room, house or building used by the
owner or occupant as a residence, and not for business purposes.
By the word 'business tAlephones,° as used in
Section 2 of this Ordinance, is meant telephones used in any room,
o building%whi4h the owner or occupant uses as a place of

Section 3: This Ordinance specifically applies to
Jhe Seri€ Wern Telegraph and Telephone Company, at present
engaged ;n the business of furnishing local telephone service to
the City c _art. Wore, and the inhabitants thereof, and applies
to all telephon$ frat6hises heretofore granted by the City of
Fort Worth, and, which may be in legal existence at the time of
the passage of this Ordinance.
Section 4: Any person, firm, association or
corporation violating the terms of this Ordinance, shall be
fined in any sum not exceeding $100.00, and each violation of
this Ordinance is hereby declared to be, and shall constitute a
distinct and separate offense.
Section 5: Any person, firm, association or
corporation acting under a franchise from the City of Fort Worth,
who shall violate or fail or refuse to obey any of the provisions
of this Ordinance, shall thereby subject its franchise to forfeiture,
and the same may thereupon be forfeited by the Board of Commis-
sioners of the City of Fort Worth, after ten day's written notice
to the holder of said franchise, or its agent, at its office or
place of business, bf the time and lace of the contemplated action
by said Board of Commissioners. The provisions of this Section
shall not be construed to repeal any of the preceding sections of
this Ordinance, but are to be cumulative thereto.
Section 6: This Ordinance shall take effect and
be in force from and after its passage and publication as
required by law.

duly presented and unanimously passed .and adopted by the Beard of
Commissioners of the City of Fort Worth,Texas,at a regular session
of said Bo rd held Tuesday January `Sth,A.D.1918.
