RAILROAD BE VACATED, ABANDONED CITY SECEC t' AND CLOSED; PROVIDING FOR THE REVERSION OF THE FT. WORTH, TEA. FEE IN SAID LAND; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the following described portion of Sixth Street be and the same is hereby closed, abandoned and permanently vacated as a street or public thoroughfare of any kind or char- acter whatever: That portion of Sixth Street bounded on the west by Pecan Street, on the south by that por- tion of Block 118, Original Town, owned by the Estate of Bert K. Smith, on the east by the G. C. & S . F . R. R. Company right of way, and on the north by that land conveyed by the Estate of Bert K. Smith to the State of Texas, by deed recorded in Volume 3570, at page 70, Deed Records of Tar- rant County, Texas . SECTION 2 . That the fee to the land in said street is hereby re- leased and will revert to the adjacent owners as provided by law, save and except that easements be and the same are hereby reserved for any and all existing utilities, including a ten foot easement for existing Southwestern Bell Telephone Company facilities being centered on the service line which is located 8 .5 feet north of the south line of Sixth Street, extending from Pecan to the G. C . & S . F. Railroad right of way. SECTION 3 . That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage. APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY: City Attorney I Ivan CITY OF FORT WORTH GWWt owns aw TEXAS awd" OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER Communication to Mayor and Council No. PW-1010 May 14, 1962 Honorable Mayor and Re: Requested Closing of a Members of the City Council Portion of Sixth Street City of Fort Worth East of Pecan Street Mrs. McKnight and Gentlemen: A request has been received to close a portion of East Sixth Street between Pecan Street and the G.C. & S.F. Railroad. The purpose of this request is to consolidate commercial property and to provide a clear title for property exchange. The Public Works, Traffic .Engineering and Planning Departments have investi- gated this request and find no objections to the closing. A major portion of Sixth Street has been included in right-of-way for State Highway No. 280. The Highway Department has advised that the residue of Sixth Street is not needed for highway construction. All municipal and private utility companies have approved the requested closing provided a ten foot easement is reserved for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company service line. It is recommended that an ordinance be adopted for closing a portion of Sixth Street between Pecan Street and the G.C. & S.F. Railroad, south of State Highway No. 280. Respectfully submitted, CO-L L.
