HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 10633 ORDINANCE NO. l ~~IJLJ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 30, ARTICLE II, ENTITLED "PARKWAY CONTRACTORS," OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH (1986), AS AMENDED, TO INCREASE FEES FOR PARKWAY CONTRACTORS; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF OTHER ORDINANCES AND CODE PROVISIONS AND REPEALING ALL ORDI- NANCES AND CODE PROVISIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PRO- VIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING A PENALTY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Chapter 30 of the Code of the City of Fort Worth is amended at Section 30-32, and hereafter the said Section 30-32 shall read and be as follows: "Sec 30-32. License; bond; permit. It shall be unlawful for any person or firm to perform the work of a parkway contractor, as defined in this article, without first having obtained from the director of public works a license to do such work, having made and executed a bond to the City in the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000 00), without having obtained a parkway contractor's license, the fee for which shall be Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), and without having obtained a permit from the Director of Public Works to do such work. The license provided for in this article shall be renewed annually, and the renewal fee shall be Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00)." SECTION 2. That, should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining por- , , tions, sections or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of all other ordi- nances and of the Code of the City of Fort Worth except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and such Code, in which instances said conflicting provisions are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 4. That any person, firm or corporation who violates, disobeys, neglects or refuses to comply with or who resists the enforcement of any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined not more than Two Hundred and No/100 Dollars ($200.00) for each offense. Each day that a violation is permitted to exist shall constitute a separate offense. SECTION 5. The City Secretary of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, is hereby directed to publish the caption and penalty clause and effective date of this ordinance for two (2) days in the official newspaper of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, as authorized by Section 52.013 of the Texas Local Government Code 2 ~. - k." Approve the attached ordinances increasing certain existing fees for Police, Fire, and Transportation and Public Works as indicated in the discussion section below. DISCUSSION: During the Pre-Council meeting on April 4, 1990 City staff presented Informal Report No. 7456, User Fee Increase Recommendations, to City Council. The City Council agreed to increase the fees as shown in the report; thereby increasing revenues to the General Fund. Approval of this Mayor and Council Communication will effect that decision. The following are fees that have previously been established by ordinance and are recommended to be increased to the following rates: FIRE Sprinkler Installation Less than 20 heads $ 75 20 heads or more $100 Additional floors $ 40/flr Tenant finish $ 60 Alarm Installation 2-5 initiating devices $ 60 6 or more initiating devices $ 90 Additional floors $ 40/flr Standpipe Testing New: 1-3 risers $250/bldg 4 or more risers $400/bldg Existing (required once every 5 years) $150/bldg Other Extinguishing Agent Pre-engineered systems $ 60 Other systems $120 Bottle charge (first line bottles only) $ 20/btl Additional tests $ 30/test Re-review of approved plans $ 50 pni TrF Wrecker Driver Permit Fee $ 50 Inspection Fee $ 30 Letter of Authorization $ 30 Impound Fee ~ $ 10 Storage Fee $ 10 ~., DATE REFERENCE NUMBER SUBJECT FEE INCREASES PAGE 2 2 7-12-90 **G-8703 or TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC WORKS General and Parkway Contractor License Renewal $500 FINANCING: Revenues derived from these fee increases will be recorded in various revenue accounts in the General Fund 01.
