It is recommended that the City Council
1. Approve the deposit of $63,428 into the General Fund O1, from restitu-
tion payments, sales, refunds and recoveries of drug related cash and
equipment seizures,
2. Adopt the attached supplemental appropriations ordinance increasing esti-
mated receipts by $63,428 in the General Fund O1 and appropriations by
the same amount in the General Fund O1, Non-Departmental, Account No.
90-35-00, from increased revenues; and
3. Approve the transfer from General Fund O1, to the Grant Fund 76, Project
No. 202482-01, DNA Testing in the amount of $36,396 and Project No.
202481-01, Juvenile Narcotics Enforcement, in the amount of $27,032.
DISCUSSION
On June 6, 1989, the City Council approved M&C G-8063, which authorized the
City Manager to submit applications and accept grants from the Criminal
Justice Division of the Governor's for five Police Department projects.
During the F.Y. 89-90 Police Department budget review process, it was deter-
mined that awarded assets could be substituted for the local city cash match
for two (2) of the five (5) projects. The grants for DNA Testing and
Juvenile Narcotics Enforcement have been awarded to the Police Department and
their transfer will make sufficient funds available for the cash match
required to comply with the grant applications submitted.
FINANCING
Upon approval and completion of Recommendations 1 and 3, and adoption of the
supplemental appropriation ordinance, sufficient funds will be available in
Grant Fund 76, Project No. 202481-01, Juvenile Narcotics Enforcement and
Project No. 202482-01, DNA Testing. Expenditures will be made from Index
Code 501012. Income earned from the various sources will be deposited into
Index Code 055012.
