Home My WebLink AboutOrdinance 10499~~ ~~ ~, ~ ~~.,, 1., - q ORDINANCE N O AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND, FUND 72, PROJECT 536000-00, TSTI FIREFIGHTER APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM, OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1989-90 BY THE SUM OF $5,350 AND APPROPRIATING SAID $5,350 TO THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND, FUND 72, PROJECT 536000-00, TSTI FIREFIGHTER APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING TRAINING MATERIALS AND TRAINING PROGRAMS IN COORDINATION WITH THE TSTI FIREFIGHTER APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, PROVIDING FOR ENGROSSMENT AND ENROLLMENT, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 1989-90 and in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts in the Special Trust Fund, Fund 72, Project No 536000-00, TSTI Firefighter Apprenticeship Program by the sum of $5,350 and appropriating said $5,350 to the Special Trust Fund, Fund 72, Project No 536000-00, TSTI Firefighter Apprenticeship Program, for the purpose of providing training materials and training programs in coordination with the TSTI Firefighter Apprenticeship Training Program SECTION 2 Should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgement shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No 10363 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 4 The City Secretary of the City of Fort Worth is hereby directed to engross and enroll this ordinance by copying the caption and effective date into the minutes of the City Council and by filing this ordinance in the ordinance records of the City of Fort Worth SECTION 5 This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained. It is recommended that the City Council 1. Accept funds in the Special Trust Fund 72, Project No. 536000-00, TSTI Firefighter Apprenticeship Program, in the amount of $5,350 from the Texas State Technical Institute, 2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations by $5,350 in Special Trust Fund 72, Project No. 536000-00, TSTI Firefighter Apprenticeship Program, from increased revenues, •and 3. Approve the expenditure of the above $5,350 for the Firefighter Apprenticeship Training Program for the City of Fort Worth. DISCUSSION• A proposed agreement has been reached with the Texas State Technical Institute (TSTI) in Amarillo, Texas for funding support for the Apprenticeship Training Program in the Fire Department, Training Division. The program is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, with program courses approved by the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The Texas State Technical Institute has offered to provide additional funding support for- this program in the amount of $5,350 based on the number of contact hours projected for this time period. These funds can be used for training materials, training programs, visual aids and/or travel for training, and are not limited to those who are currently enrolled in the program. Funding support for this project is for the period September 1, 1989 through August 31, 1990. An itemized listing of expenditures will be provided to TSTI on a quarterly basis. The funding support is renewable provided the agreement criteria continues to be met. FINANCING. Upon adoption of the attached supplemental appropriation ordinance, sufficient funds will be available in Special Trust Fund 72, Project No 53600-00, TSTI Firefighter Apprenticeship Program for this activity.
