HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 18846-09-2009Ordinance No.18846-09-2009 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE ITS IMPROVEMENTS FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $300,000.00, FROM YEAR 2009 CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT FUNDS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATION TOWERS FOR THE INFOMRATION TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2008-2009, there shall also be increased appropriations in the ITS Improvements Fund in the amount of $300,000.00, from Year 2009 Crime Control and Prevention District Funds, for the purpose of constructing public safety communication towers for the Information Technology Solutions Department. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 18283 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. Authorize the transfer of $300,000.00 from the Crime Control Prevention District Fund to the ITS Improvements Fund for the construction of Public Safety Communication Towers for the Information Technology Solutions Department; and 2. Adopt the appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the ITS Improvements Fund by $300,000.00 available from Year 2009 Crime Control Prevention District Funds. DISCUSSION: The City of Fort Worth will replace a number of public safety communication towers over the next few years. It is necessar}r to replace the towers because their useful life and/or location needs to be updated or changed. !n the Year 2009 Crime Control and Prevention District Budget there is an appropriation of $300,000.00 that is designated as a partial offset for the cost of construction. Within the next four to six months it is anticipated that the replacement of the communication tower at the Rolling Hills Water Treatment Plant will be started. Staff plans to submit by the end of the calendar year a Mayor and Council Communication request for approval of a contract and funding recommendations for the construction of one or more towers.
