HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 10167~, ~,. ~' ~~ .~ ORDINANCE NO 1~ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7-47(b) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH (1986) BY ADDING DIVISION 5 OF SECTION 601 AND ADDING PARAGRAPH 6 OF SECTION 3802(c) OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE; REGULATING BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES ON RACE TRACK SITES; REQUIRING AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEMS IN CERTAIN FACILITIES; PROVIDING FOR ENGROSSMENT AND ENROLLMENT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SECTION 1 Section 7-47(b) of the Code of the City of Fort Worth (1986) is amended by adding a new Division 5 to Section 601 of the Uniform Building Code, adopted therein, to read as follows "Sec 601 Group A occupancies ("Divisions 1, 2, 2 1, 3, and 4 unchanged ) Division 5 Buildings. and structures located on race track sites, such as auto and horse racing tracks, shall be constructed of at least Type II-N construction Such facilities shall be sprinklered as required by Chapter 38 Division 4 building area requirements shall apply " SECTION 2 Section 7-47(b) of the Code of the City of Fort Worth (1986) is amended by amending Subsection (c) of Section 3802 of the Uniform Building Code, adopted therein, as follows "(c) Group A occupancies ("Paragraphs 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 unchanged ) 6 Automatic sprinkler systems shall be installed in barns, horse stalls, combustible storage rooms, or buildings, bleachers, or any use connected to the bleachers in any manner " ., ~ ~ :> v;) ~ 'J-P SECTION 3 The City Secretary of the City of Fort Worth is hereby directed to engross and enroll this ordinance by copying the caption and effective date in the minutes of the City Council and by filing the ordinance in the ordinance records of the City SECTION 4 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, and it is so ordained APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY G°~%~ _ /`JSs-f City Attorney Date ADOPT EFFEC -2- MA'~C'F.R FIG4 IV - - ~2~~ ®~ li ®i~ ~_ ~®~U.YIL~ lC ~~~LJLV1 ACCOUFl1'ING 2 $RANSPOilTATi~NI~'liti4l( i i~(~j.'Q,~/®U `li1V~ILtV ~®~LL/IVU~~I/~lV ~©~~~LL/1V01Y~~l.i~LN/IVIV®~ VIA'fER ADMINI^7RA7i6t/ .~ DEVELOPME I~3,ATE CE suB~ECr ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PAGE NUMBER BUILDING CODE 1 9-13-88 G-7722 i or-__ RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached ordinance amending Section 7-47/b of the Code of the City of Fort Worth (1986) DISCUSSION Due to the possible construction of race track(s) within the City limits of Fort Worth, it becomes necessary to provide adequate fire safety to the facility. The attached ordinance requires the buildings and structures to be constructed of at least Type II-N construction, it further requires sprinklers in barns, horse stall s, combustible storage rooms, or buildings, bleachers or any use connected to t he bleachers in any manner. The proposed ordinance has bee n approved by the Construction and Fire Prevention Board of Appeals, the Council-appointed Race Track Advisory Committee and the departments which have representatives on the Commission.
