AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE MECHANICAL
OPERATION OF PASSENGER ELEVATOR DOORS;
PROVIDING FOR THE MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
AND OPERATION OF PASSENGER ELEVATOR CARS;
DECLARING THE ORDINANCE TO BE CUMULATIVE;
RMALING CHAPTER 37, PARAGRAPH 3 —1.6, of
ORDINANCE NO. 1389, WHICH IS AN ORDINANCE
KNOWN AS THE BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH, TEXAS; FIXING A PENALTY FOR THE
VIOLATION THEREOF; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EF—
FECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION 1•
All passenger elevators hereafter installed in vertical shafts shall
be constructed and controlled in accordance with the American Standard Safety
Code for Elevators and the Industrial Accident Board of the State of Texas*
SECTION 2,
The car or cab of all power-operated passenger elevators now in use
or that may be hereafter installed shall be provided with inside doors or
gates so constructed as to guard the full openings. It shall be unlawful
for any person to cause an elevator to start or be in motion unless the in-
side door or gate is completely closed.
SECTION 3. •
This ordinance shall be and is hereby declared to be cumulative of
all other ordinances of the City of Fort North affecting the Building Code
and shall not operate to repeal or affect any such ordinance or ordinances
except insofar as they are in conflict or inconsistent with the provisions of
this ordinanceo Chapter 37, Paragraph 37-1-6, of Ordinance No. 1389 is hereby
expressly repealed.
SECTION 4•
Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall,
upon conviction thereof, be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Himdred
Bollard ($200.00), and each violation thereof shall be and is hereby de—
clared to be a distinct and separate offense and punishable as such.
SECTION 5.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect
in , !d� days and after its publication as provided by law.
