MEMORANDUM
FORT WORTH MISCELLANEOUS RATES
The proposed changes in the Schedule of Miscellaneous Rates and
Charges in Fort Worth are outlined below:
PRESENT PROPOSED
EQUIPMENT RATES RATES
SERVICE CONNECTION, MOVE AND CHANGE CHARGES See sheet 8 of schedule.
These charges are advanced $.50 and retractile
receiver cords are furnished without charge.
The present schedule provides for a $2.00
charge for retractile cords.
STANDARD LENGTH RETRACTILE RECEIVER HANDSET CORDS $2.00 See sheet 3
of schedule.
The present $2.00 charge for standard length
retractile receiver cords is eliminated when
installed at the time of installation, moves, or
changes of instruments.
Standard length straight receiver cords changed
for maintenance will be replaced with standard
length retractile receiver cords at no charge.
Such cords installed at the customer's request
at the time of a paid visit will be $1.00 rather
than $2.00.
If installed not at the time of a paid visit , the
instrument change charge will apply for the first
cord, and $1.00 for each additional cord installed
at the same time.
This rate treatment will permit the ultimate
installation of modern cords on virtually all
instruments without an undue financial burden to
the customer or the Company. An average of over
1200 standard length retractile receiver cords are
installed in Fort Worth each month.
OTHER RETRACTILE HANDSET CORDS
REGULAR LENGTH, MOUNTING $2.00 I.C. Change Charge
EXTRA LENGTH, RECEIVER OR MOUNTING 4.50 I.C. $6.00 I.C.
The regular length mounting cord is advanced to
the instrument change charge rate in line with
the rate treatment for service connection
charges and regular length receiver cords as
discussed above. An average of only 15 regular

EQUIPMENT RATES RATES
length mounting cords are installed in Fort
Worth each month. Extra length retractile cords
are advanced to cover the cost of the installa-
tion and materials.
WIRING PLANS See sheets 9, 10, and
11 of schedule.
Wiring plans are separately mounted keys used
with telephone instruments which perform var-
ious functions such as picking up more than
one telephone line, disconnecting bells, etc. .
Wiring plans have been obsolete for a number of
years and are no longer manufactured. Keys in
the base of telephone insturments provide the same
services and the same rates should apply. The
wiring plan rates are adjusted to the equivalent
key telephone rates.
There are presently 176 wiring plans in service
in Fort Worth and it is estimated that annual
revenues will be increased $362.40 as a result
of an adjustment in wiring plan rates. Key
telephone rates are to remain as previously
established.
19-A COIN TELEPHIONE SHELF $ .75 mo. $2.25 mo.
This is a wooden shelf designed for wall mount-
ing which provides a directory compartment , and
only 7 are in service in Fort Worth. The cus-
tomer normally provides such shelves to meet his
own requirements.
CHROME COIN STAND $1.10 mo. $1.25 mo.
The stand provides a table mounting for a coin
instrument, a directory compartment, and a seat.
The stand was not previously covered by ordi-
nance. The proposed rates more nearly cover the
cost of providing the service. There are 248 in
service at the present time. Similar equipment
can be provided by the customer.
HANDSET, EQUIPPED WITH CORD AND PLUG $ .50 mo. $ .25 mo.
The handset is provided for alternate use with
a switchboard operator' s headset , and the rate
is reduced.

This equipment is designed for use of operator's
handset or headsets with key cabinets or cord
less switchboards. It is a new service offering.
103-A KEY EQUIPMENT
INITIAL $3.25 mo. $4.75 mo.
ADDITIONAL 2.25 mo. 4.75 mo.
INSTALLATION CHARGE - 5.00
The key boxes have a ten line capacity and are
used primarily for answering purposes. They
were not previously covered by ordinance. The
rates were established in 1944 and are
insufficient to cover the costs of providing the
service. Only 12 are in service in Fort Worth,
ELEVATOR SETS
STANDARD INSTRUMENT - -
FLUSH WALL - BLACK 1.15 mo. 2.75 mo.
FLUSH WALL - OLD BRASS Cost 3.75 mo.
The rates are in addition to the extension or
PBX station rate.
MESSAGE REGISTER EQUIPMENT
RELAY CONTROL UNIT $ .75 mo.
REGISTER 1.00 mo.
INSTALLATION CHARGE, REGISTER 1.50
This equipment registers the number of telephone
calls and may be used by large businesses to
determine the amount of business conducted by
telephone and as a guide to personnel require-
ments. It is a new service offering and there
are presently no Fort Worth users.
RESTORATION OF SERVICE $1.00 mo. $2.00 mo.
This is a non-recurring charge for recon-
nection of service after temporary suspension
for non-payment of charges. The advanced
charge more nearly compensates the Company
for the cost of restoring the service.
