V DY Richardson Heights, Inc. , and Western Hills Development Corp. , have requested
H
the City to vacate 45 feet of the surplus portions of the frontage road
rights-of-way in the 8400 through 8600 blocks, north and south sides of
U. S. Highway 80 West. This request is made to permit the vacated rights-
of-way to be incorporated into adjoining land owned by the applicants. The
areas requested to be vacated are for five tracts of land, being portions
of the rights-of-way of the North and South Frontage Roads of U. S. Highway
80 West in the Hayes Covington Survey, Abstract No. 256, Tarrant County,
Texas.
These portions of the frontage road rights-of-way are not open, paved or
guttered. The existing 282 feet of right-of-way is much greater than is
needed since the opening of I-20; therefore, the subject rights-of-way are
excess and the remaining 192 feet is all that will be required in the
future.
The City departments and private utility companies have reviewed this request.
They have no objection to the vacations provided the applicants plat the
vacated rights-of-way with their adjoining properties and provided all the
vacated rights-of-way are retained as easements for existing and future
utilities.
The City Plan Commission has reviewed the proposed vacation and recommends
adoption of an ordinance vacating the rights-of-way, subject to the
applicants' platting the vacated rights-of-way with their adjoining properties
and retaining the vacated rights-of-way as easements for existing and future
utilities. A plat which includes the vacated rights-of-way and which also
provides the necessary easements has been filed with the Planning Department.
Recommendation
It is recommended that an ordinance be adopted cloling the subject rights-of-
way as recommended by the City Plan Commission.
