HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 6529 ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT PORTIONS OF STRATTON ROAD IN THE 100 BLOCK, A WIDTH OF 50 FT. AND A LENGTH OF APPROXIMATELY 215 .65 FT. FROM VALERA STREET EAST TO THE WEST RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF OLD HEMPHILL STREET AND OLD HEMPHILL STREET IN THE 6200 AND 6300 BLOCKS, A WIDTH OF 120 FT. AND A LENGTH OF APPROXIMATELY 630 FT. FROM THE NORTH LINE OF STRATTON ROAD SOUTH TO HIGHLAND TERRACE NORTH BE ABANDONED, VACATED AND CLOSED; PROVIDING FOR THE REVERSION OF THE INTEREST OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH IN SAID LAND ; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS : SECTION 1. That the hereinafter described portions of streets be and the same are hereby closed, abandoned and permanently vacated as streets or public thoroughfares of any kind or character whatever : Stratton Road, in the 100 block, a width of 50 ft. and a length of approximately 215 .65 ft. from Valera Street east to the west right-of-way line of Old Hemphill Street; Old Hemphill Street, in the 6200 and 6300 blocks, a width of 120 ft. and a length of approximately 630 ft. from the north line of Stratton Road south to Highland Terrace North. SECTION 2 . That the interest of the City of Fort Worth in the fee to the land in said portions of streets is hereby released and shall revert to the adjacent owners of the fee as provided by law, save and except that easements are reserved for any and all existing utilities . SECTION 3 . That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage. Billings and Elizabeth Stubbe, with the consent of the Texas Highway VWLKEG BIL RDI Department, owners of all abutting property, have requested that the City vacate the following: 1) Stratton Road, in the 100 block, a width of 50 feet and a length of approximately 215.65 feet from Valera Street east to the west right- of-way line of Old Hemphill Street; 2) Old Hemphill Street, in the 6200 and 6300 blocks a width of 120 feet and a length of approximately 630 feet from the north line of Stratton Road south to Highland Terrace North. Hemphill Street was originally acquired by Tarrant County and is paved. Stratton Road was acquired by plat dedication and is not improved. Hemphill is proposed to be realigned with Valera Street to provide a better intersec- tion with Highland Terrace North. The applicants have executed a construc- tion easement which would insure that Old Hemphill Street remain open until the realignment is completed and open to traffic. City Departments and private utility companies have reviewed this request and have no objections to approval as requested. Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. , Lone Star Gas Co. , and the City of Fort Worth Water Department have existing facilities for which easements have been provided. The City has received a satisfactory replat of which the Texas Highway Depart- ment has approved. The City Plan Commission has reviewed this request and recommends that an ordinance be adopted vacating the public rights-of-way as requested. Recommendation It is recommended that an ordinance be adopted vacating subject rights-of-way as recommended by the City Plan Commission, with Old Hemphill Street to re- main open on the ground until realignment is completed.
