HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 4211 ORDINANCE NO. 44;2,/ AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT A PORTION OF EAST SEVEN- TEENTH STREET IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS, BE VACATED, ABANDONED AND CLOSED; PROVIDING FOR THE REVERSION OF THE FEE IN SAID LAND; RESERVING ALL EASEIE dTS FOR PUBLIC UTILITIES; REPEAU NG ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERMTITH; AND PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF, THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: Section 1. That the following described portion of East Seventeenth Street be and the same is hereby closed, abandoned and permanently vacated as a street or public thoroughfare of any kind or character whatever: From the east line of Jones Street to the east line of the Texas and Pacific Railway Company right of way line, which is a line along the westerly side of Blocks 0-1 and N-3, Daggetts Addition to the City of Fort 14orth, Tarrant County, Texas. Section 2. That the fee to the land in said street is hereby released and will revert to the adjacent owner as provided by law, with the exception that all easements for public utilities are expressly reserved. Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 4. CI E Y OF FORE WOREH EEXA S CIT OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER Communication to Mayor and Council No. pwg::_ '7 " December 4, 1959 Honorable Mayor and Re: Proposed Closing of East Members of the City Council 17th Street at E-W Freeway City of Fort Worth Mrs. McKnight and Gentlemen: In securing the right-of-way for the construction of the East-West Free- way, the City of Fort Worth entered into an agreement with the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway Company, the Fort Worth and Denver Railway Company, the Texas and Pacific Company, the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad Company, and the Fort Worth Union Passenger Station, which is City of Fort Worth Contract No. 3658. This agreement provides that in exchange for the above companys' granting the right for grade separation structures to be constructed at properties and tracks owned by them, the,City of Fqrt Worth shall by Ordinance that portion of East 17th Street which crosses this property—.N eL4 The above companies have fulfilled their portion of the agreement, and it is recommended that an Ordinance be adop+4d closing East 17th Street from the east line of Jones Street to the east line of Texas and Pacific Railway Company right-of-way near Terry Street with easements for exist- ing utilities reserved in order to fulfill the City's portion of the agreement.
