A RESOLUTION ORDERING 11 ELECTION OF THE gUALIFIED
VOTERS OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, ON TUESDAY,
Thu 27TH DAY OF JANUARY, A. D. 1931, FOR THE PURPOSE
OF DETEREINING TEE WILL OF T12 PEOPLE WITH REFERENCE
TO TIE ACnUISITION OF ALL PUBLIC SERVIGE PLANTS AND
PROPERTIES SITU!.TED WITHIN TIE LIMITS OF SAID CITY
AND USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF DIS`E19JTING NATURAL GAS
FOR DOiZS'TIC ATD IIdDUSTRIAL CO-1-TSU-10TIONI
WHEREAS, for the pass; seven or eight months the matter
of the acquisition by the City of Fort Worth of the public service
plants and properties, now being. used for the purpose of the distribu-
tion of natural gas for industrial and domestic consumption, has been
the subject of widespread discussion among the citizens, taxpayers,
voters and public generally in the City; NOW, TE BEFORE,
RE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION I.
That a special election be held in the City of Fort
Worth, Texas, on Tuesday, the 27th day of January, A. D. 1931, for the
purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said jity for adop-
tion or rejection the following; proposition:
Are you in favor of the City of Fort Worth, Texas
owning and operating the public service plants and properties
now being used for the purpose of distributing natural gas for
domestic and industrial consumption?
SECTIor II.
That the Secretary Treasurer of said City shall prepare
ballots to be used in said election and shall stamp same "Official
Ballot", on which ballot shall be printed the following proposition:
Are you in favor of the City of Fort Worth, Texas
owning and operating the public service plants and properties
now being used for the purpose of distributing natural gas for
domestic and industrial consumption?

SECTION III.
That said election shall be held in the manner and
within the hours prescribed for general elections by the laws of the
State of 'Texas so far as they may be practicable and all persons
qualified to vote in said City under the laws of the State regulat-
ing general elections shall be allowed to vote.
SECTION IV.
All voters desiring to vote for the measure submitted
shall permit to remain on their Ballots with respect thereto the
word:
"YES f,•
And those opposed to the measure submitted shall per-
mit to remain on their ballots with respect thereto the word:
"NO".
SECTION V.
The polling places for thio election and the personnel
of the officers who are to hold the same, except insofar as they may
be clvmged by the City Council of said City, shall be as follows :

SECTION VI,
A copy of this resolution s1nll be sufficient notice
of said election and thirty (30) days notice of the time and place of
holding the said election shall be given by publication of such notice
once each meek for four weeks , the date of the first publication being
not less than thirty (30) days prior to the date of the election. The
Secretary-Treasurer shall also cause to be posted near the voting box
in each precin�:t a cop; (-f +his notice at least thirty (30) days prior
to the election,.

It is not intended by this election to in any way add
to, take from, alter, change or affect the present powers and authority
of the City Council, and the results of said election shall in no way
add to, take froim, alter or change -the powers and authority of said
municipal goverrnient} but it is only intended by said election to de-
termine the desire of the qualified voters Concerning the question
now before the City Council which is considered of extreme importance,
and the City Council believes that it will be to the best interests
and advantageous to the people to proceed in the manner above outlined
and to take the action now being -taken,
