These resolutions also request that the Governor of Texas grant permission to conduct special emergency elections to be held on June 28, 1986, to fill the vacancies. 'In ar-tic'ipation of the Governor granting permission to conduct the special elections on June 28, 1986, the City of Fort Worth must comply with the Voting Rights Act of 1973. The Voting Rights Act requires that information on the nature, scope and potential impact of any boundary changes on the electoral process since the City's last submission be submitted to the U S. Department of Justice no later than sixty days prior to the scheduled election. This informa- tion must include changes in population, changes in characteristics of the population, and the accessibility of the voting process to all citizens, par- ticularly to minority citizens The last revisions to the Single-Member District Plan were approved by the City Council on January 14, 1986 (Ordinance No 9548) Since the adoption of these revisions, there have been seven (7) annexations and two (2) disannexations These annexations and djsannexations are briefly described below, along with their impact and the recommendation as to which single-member district each newly annexed area should be included and from which single-member district the disannexed area should be deleted. Areas Annexed 1. Ordinance No. 9541 Annexation o 8 64 acres in Ashbrooke Park Addition This area should be added to District 2, to which it is contiguous.
