AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING, AND CLOSING AND EXTIN-
GUISHING A PART OF GALVESTON AVENUE, SUCH PART BEING
DESCRIBED MORE SPECIFICALLY HEREIN, AND RETAINING CERTAIN
EASEMENTS THEREIN; PROVIDING FOR REVERSION OF FEE IN SAID
LAND(S); REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
THAT a part of Galveston Avenue described in Exhibit "A" at-
tached hereto and incorporated herein by reference for all purposes,
be and the same is vacated, abandoned, and permanently closed and
extinguished.
SECTION 2.
That the fee to the land(s) in the above described vacated
street and public right-of-way is hereby released and shall revert
to the adjacent owner(s) as provided by law, SAVE AND EXCEPT that
easements are retained by the City of Fort Worth for any and all
existing and prospective utilities, including but not limited to
electric, water, sewer, qas and telephone utilities, and that
easements are also retained by said City for any necessary storm
drainage facilities and water runoff..
SECTION 3.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4.
That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after the date of its passage, and it is so or-
dained.

A portion of Galveston Avenue which lies between Lot 7 in Block 1
of Ryan and Bergin Subdivision and Lots 1 and 2 in Block 3 of
James Ryan Subdivision in the City of Fort Worth in Tarrant
County, Texas.
Beginning at the northwest corner of said Lot 7 for the inter-
section of the east line of Galveston Avenue and the south line
of Magnolia Avenue.
Thence south, along the west line of said Lot 7, to and along a
line of Lot One-R-1 in Block Q-R of Rosedale Addition as it
appears upon the map recorded in volume 388-150, page 19 of the
Tarrant County Deed Records, for the said east line of Galveston
Avenue, 143 feet.
Thence west, 50 feet to the west line of said Galveston Avenue
and a line of said Lot One-R-1.
Thence north, along said west line of Galveston Avenue and said
line of Lot One-R-1, a distance of 43 feet to the south line of
said Lot 2.
Thence east along the said south line of Lot 2, a distance of 10
feet to the southeast corner of said Lot ~.
Thence north, along the east line of said Lot 2, to and along the
east line of said Lot 1, for the said west line of Galveston
Avenue, 100 feet to the northeast corner of said Lot 1 for the
intersection of the said west line of Galveston Avenue and the
said south line of Magnolia Avenue.
Thence east, along the north terminus. of Galveston Avenue for the
said south line of Magnolia Avenue, 40 feet to the place of
beginning and containing 6150 square feet.

It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Ordinance vacating the
1300 block of Galveston Avenue, southward from East Magnolia Avenue to its
termination point, adjacent to Lots 1 & 2, Block 3, James Ryan Subdivision, Lot
7, Block 1, Ryan & Bergin Addition, and Lot 1-R-1, Block Q-R, Rosedale Addition,
as recommended by the City Plan Comrission.
DISCUSSION
f1r. Charles Mayui re, Director of St . Joseph Hospital (the applicant) , owner of
abutting property, has requested that the City vacate 6150 sq.ft. of Galveston
Avenue street right-of-way, as illustrated on the attached map.
The subject street right-of-way, acquired by dedication, is unimproved, but
contains storm drainage, electrical, water, sewer, gas, and telephone
facilities. The subject request is made in order to replat the vacated
right-of-way with adjacent property, thus expanding the building area and
providing more usable yard space.
The required and appropriate monetary consideration has been placed in escrow
with the Real Property Department of the City.
Reviewing City departments and private utility companies have raised no
objections to this request, subject to the vacated right-of-way being replatted
with adjacent property and the vacated right-of-way being retained as a utility
easement for existing utility facilities, unless other satisfactory arrangements
are made. A satisfactory replat has been submitted.
The City Plan Commission has reviewed this request and recommends that the
subject portion of street right-of-way be vacated as requested.
