Police plan to make maximum use of the animals in crowd control, cross-country pursuit, for trailing reported window peepers and prowlers, and for ferretting out burglars at the scene of the crimes. The dogs have been trained to respond exclusively to the orders of their masters. Consequently, other distractions to the dogs while at work must be eliminated. The ordinance establishes the fact that the dogs are engaged in police work, and would tend to relieve the City of any responsibility for the acts of a police dog if it should be molested, interfered with, or meddled with while being used by the Police Depart- ment. It is reccnmended that the ordinance be adapted. R y submitt 01 41 Cooki ngham , City Manager LPC:alh attachment CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS THE SUBJECT MATTER -OF THIS M.& C.C.
