Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached ordinance amending
City Ordinance No. 9547, by increasing the maximum number of election clerks to
be appointed for each precinct from two clerks to eight clerks.
Background
On January 14, 1986, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 9547, calling for
and ordering an election for March 22, 1985, on the question of the issuance of
bonds. Section 2 of Ordinance No. 9547 provides, among other things, that each
Presiding Judge shall appoint not less than two nor more than two qualified
election clerks to serve and assist in conducting the election.
Following the adoption of Ordinance No. 9547, it was brought to the attention
of the City Staff that some precincts will require more than two election
clerks, and one precinct will require as many as eight election clerks to con-
duct the election.
Therefore, it is recommended that Ordinance No. 9547 be amended to increase the
maximum number of election clerks for each precinct from two to eight.
