HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 5212 OFFICIAL RECORD ORDINANCE NO . CITY SECRETARY FT. WORTH, TEX. AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND VACATING A PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY IN TRACT 18 (CITY TAX RECORDS) , J. L. PUR- VIS SURVEY, ADJOINING THE EAST LINE OF LOT 4, EDNA ESTES ADDITION, NORTH OF THE 4300 BLOCK OF VIRGINIA LANE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE REVERSION OF THE IN- TEREST OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH IN SAID LAND. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the hereinafter described public right of way be and the same is hereby closed, abandoned and permanently va- cated as a street or public thoroughfare of any kind or char- acter whatever: A 15 'x140' right of way in Tract 18 (City Tax Records) , J. L. Purvis Survey, particularly de- scribed as follows: Beginning at a point in the north line of Vir- ginia Lane, said point being the southeast corner of Lot 4, Edna Estes Addition; thence north along the east line of said Lot 4 a distance of 140 feet to a point for corner; thence east along a line parallel to the north line of Virginia Lane a dis- tance of 15 feet to a point for corner; thence south along a line 15 feet east of and parallel to the east line of Lot 4, Edna Estes Addition, to the north line of Virginia Lane; thence west along the north line of Virginia Lane to the point of beginning. SECTION 2 . That the interest of the City of Fort Worth in the fee to the land in said public right of way is hereby released and shall revert to the adjacent owners of the fee as provided by law. SECTION 3 . That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4 . That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage . L. 7/27/64 PZ-110 Purvis Survey of l Mr. Paul C. Thiessen, Mrs. Dorothy C. Thiessen, and Mr. J. M. Harvey, owners of abutting property, have requested the abandonment of a 15 by 1.40 foot strip along the west edge of Tract 18, J. L. Purvis Survey, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Thiessen, in order to clear title to the property. The reason for the original dedication is unknown; however, the abstract records ,the Medication prior to 1900, perhaps to provide access to property land-locked at that time. Maps showing the strip proposed for abandonment are attached. Private utility companies and the City Public works, water, Traffic Engineering, and Planning Departments have no objection to abandoning the.right-of-way. On July 8, 1964, the City Plan Commission reviewed the request and recommends that City Council adopt an ordinance abandoning the right-of-way as requested.
