AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 1001 (4) and 1004 OF CHAPTER 10 OF ORDINANCE NO. 6245 REGULATING THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR LICENSES FOR MASTER ELEC- TRICIANS, MASTER SIGN ELECTRICIANS AND JOURNEY- MAN ELECTRICIANS ; AND NAMING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS : SECTION 1. That Chapter 10 of Ordinance No. 6245 , Section 1001 (4) , Licensing Requirements, be, and the same is hereby amended so that hereafter same shall read and be as follows : "Section 1001. (4) Comply with all other licensing requirements herein. There shall be four (4) grades of licenses and one (1) grade of temporary working permit. " SECTION 2 . That Chapter 10 of Ordinance No. 6245 , Section 1004, Required Qualifications and Experience, be, and the same is hereby amended so that hereafter same shall read and be as fo 1 lows : "Secticn 1004. To be qualified, an appli- cant for a license shall have passed a required examination, or hold a certificate of examination from an approved examining agency, or hold a li- cense or certificate of registration from another city and have the following minimum qualifications and experience : " (a) Master Electrician License " (1) Shall have had at least four (4) years ' experience as a Journeyman Electrician in the construction industry; or shall be a graduate of a recognized electrical trade school with a four (4) year cur- riculum and have at least two (2) years ' experience as a Journeyman Electrician. " (2) Shall have graduated after major- ing in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university which has not less than a four (4) year curriculum and shall have had at least one (1) year of practical electrical experience. " (b) Journeyman Electrician License "Shall have had at least four (4) years ' experience in the electrical construc- tion industry or shall be a graduate of a recognized electrical trade school with a four (4) year curriculum. " (c) Master Sign Electrician License "Shall have had at least three (3) years ' experience in the installation and/or manu- facture of electrical signs , exclusive of experience devoted to nonelectric compon- ents , such as enclosures ; or in lieu of such experience, shall have graduated after majoring in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university which has not less than a four (4) year curriculum and shall have had at least one (1) year of practical electrical sign experience; or in lieu of either of the above require- ments, shall have had at least eighteen (18) months of practical electrical experience and shall have had either two (2) years ' college credit in an accredited college or university or be a graduate of a recognized electrical trade school. The Council was PAIGE advised that the ElectrElectricalBoard had voted to recommend minor changes in these requirements. 1 A�tutr On August 4, 1975, the Chairman of the Electrical Board submitted a proposed amendment to the Electrical Code (Ordinance No. 6245) , Sections 1001 and 1004, with Boards recommendation that it be adopted. The pro- posed changes will meet the recommended standards of the United States Department of Labor for vocational and trade schools. The proposed amendment changes the licensing requirements as follows: 1. The requirement for good moral character is deleted. 2m The minimum age of 21 years for a journeyman license, 25 years for a master license and 22 years for master sign electrician are deleted. 3. The practice of allowing the substitution of 4 years of trade school for apprenticeship for journeyman status is spelled out, 4.
