AN ORDINANCE GRANTING APPROVAL AND CONSENT TO THE
SUBSTITUTION BY FORT WORTH TRANSIT COMPANY, ITS
SUCCESSORS OR ASSIGNS, OF MOTOR BUSES FOR STREET
RAILWAY LINES FOR THE PURPOSE OF CARRYING PASSEN-
GERS FOR HIRE ON THE PUBLIC ROADS, STREETS AND
HIGHWAYS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY
OF FORT WORTH; CONFIRMING THE RIGHT AND PRESCRIB-
ING THE REGULATIONS FOR THE OPERATION OF SUCH
MOTOR BUSES BY FORT WORTH TRANSIT COMPANY; RE-
PEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1125 IN SO FAR AS BUT ONLY
IN SO FAR AS SAME CONFLICTS HEREWITH, AND PROVID-
ING THAT EXCEPT IN SO FAR AS THE SAME CONFLICTS
HEREWITH THAT IT SHALL REMAIN IN FORCE AND EFFECT;
AND PROVIDING FOR THE ACCEPTANCE HEREOF AND FOR
PUBLICATION HEREOF.
WHEREAS, Fort Worth Transit Company (formerly Northern
Texas Traction Company) is the owner and ho]d er of valid, legal,
and subsisting franchises heretofore granted by the City of Fort
Worth authorizing it to operate a street railway system on the
streets and highways of the City of Fort Worth; and
WHEREAS, said Company has heretofore, through enact-
ment of Ordinance No. 1125y been granted the privilege of operat-
ing motor buses for the carriage of passengers for hire in connec-
tion with its street railway system, and now, pursuant thereto,
operates motor buses in connection with said street railway sys-
tem over various routes heretofore duly approved by the City
Council; all in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 44 of
the General Laws of the 38th Legislature of the State of Texas,
Second Called Session; and
WHEREAS, said Chapter 44 of the General Laws of the
38th Legislature of the State of Texas, Second Called Session,
was amended by Ohapter 22 of the General Laws of the 43rd Legis-
lature of the State of Texas, as shown by Vernon's Texas Stat-
utes, 1936 Edition, Article 6548; and
WHEREAS, Fort Worth Transit Company has heretofore, by
appropriate corporate proceedings, amended its charter and other-
wise complied with the provisions of said Article 6548, as amend-
ed; and likewise, by amendment its corporate name has been chang-
ed from Northern Texas Traction Company to Fort Worth Transit Com-
pany; and

WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council and the City
Council finds that public convenience and necessity demands and
requires the substitution in whole by said company of motor
buses for its street railway system in the transportation of
passengers for hire by said company;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
The City of Fort Worth hereby signifies, gives, and
grants its consent and approval to the Fort Worth Transit Com-
pany, its successors and .assigns, to substitute in whole motor
buses or trackless vehicles for its street railway cars and sys-
tem for the carriage of passengers for hire upon the streets,
alleys, highways, and other public ways of the City of Fort
Worth, and to the operation of such motor buses by Fort Worth
Transit Company, its successors and assigns, for the carriage of
passengers for hire upon the streets, alleys, highways, and other
public ways of the City of Fort Worth, including those set forth
in Exhibit "A" attached hereto, and such other streets and high-
ways as the City Council may from tim me a prove, under and
in accordance with the provisions of said Article 6548 as amended;
sub feat, however, to the rights of the City Council at all tunas
to regulate the routes over which the same shall be operated a
the City Council shall deem necessary for the proper regulation
of traffic, and subject to such further regulations by the City
Council as are now prescribed in Ordinance No. 1125 passed and
approved February 9th, 1926s .

The right, franchise, and privilege of Fort Worth
Transit Company to operate motor buses or trackless vehicles as
aforesaid upon and over streets, alleys, highways, or other public
ways as set forth in said Exhibit "A" , or such other streets, alleys,
highways, or other publid ways as the City Countil may from time

to time approve, is hereby recognized, granted, and confirmed.
SECTION 3.
The right of Fort Worth Transit Company to abandon its
remaining street railway ope rati on in conformity with the pro-
visions of Article 6548, as amended, is hereby expressly recog-
nized and granted, and the right and privilege to wholly substi-
tute the operation of motor buses in conformity with said Article
is hereby expressly recognized and granted*
SECTION 4•
To the extent that Ordinance No. 1125 is in conflict
herewith, the same is hereby expressly repealed, but in all
other respects, the terms and provisions of said Ordinance No.
1125 shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 5•
This ordinance shall be void unless the said Fort Worth
Transit Company, its successors or assigns, shall, within ten
(10) days from the passage hereof, accept the same in writing,
and agree to the terms and conditions hereby imposed.
SECTION 6.
This ordinance shall become effective and be binding
upon Fort Worth Transit Company, its successors and assigns, and
the City of Fort Worth, after its acceptance and publication as
provided by law.
