AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING, AND CLOSING AND EXTIN-
GUISHING A PORTION OF THE PUBLIC STREET AND RIGHT-OF-WAY
KNOWN AS GRANBURY AVENUE IN THE JOHN A. THORNTON SUBDIVI-
SION OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH AND PORTIONS OF TWO 25'
ACCESS AND UTILITY EASEMENTS IN THE HAWS AND GARRETT ADDI-
TION TO THE CITY OF FORT WORTH; PROVIDING FOR REVERSION OF
FEE IN SAID LAND(S); REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS
SECTION 1 .
THAT, (1) the portion of Cranbury Avenue described more spe-
f ~~
cifically in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and incorporated herein
lying and being situated in the John A. Thornton subdivision of the
City of Fort Worth; (2) the portion of a 25' access and utility
easement described more specifically in Exhibit "B" attached hereto
and incorporated herein, lying and being situated in the Haws and
Garrett Addition to the City of Fort Worth; and (3) the portion of
a 25' access and utility easement described more specifically in
Exhibit "C" attached hereto and incorporated herein, also lying and
being situated in said Haws and Garrett Addition, be and the same
are vacated, abandoned, and permanently closed and extinguished.
SECTION 2 .
That the fee to the land(s) in the above described vacated
portion of a public street and right-of-way and the portions of the
two access and utility easements described herein is hereby released
and shall revert to the adjacent owner(s) as provided by law, SAVE
AND EXCEPT that easements are retained for any and all existing and
prospective utilities and for any and all existing and prospective
drainage requirements.

SECTION 3 .
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4.
That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after the date of its passage, and it is so or-
dained.

SITUATED in the City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, and being a portion of Granbury
Avenue lying adjacent to the north line of Lot A, Block 2, Jahn A. Thornton Subdivision,
as shown on plat thereof recorded in Volume 388-58, Page 217, of the Plat Records of
Tarrant County, Texas, and said portion being more fully described as follows: ,
BEGINNING at the point of intersection of the south line of said Granbury Avenue and the
north line of said Lot A, with the new southerly line of Interstate Highway 30 (West
Freeway), said point being 201.06 feet North 64 degrees, 27 minutes, 30 seconds East from
the point of intersection of said new southerly line of Interstate. Highway 30 with the
east line of Ninth Avenue (20 feet from centerline);

CORIMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt an ordinance vacating a triangular
portion of Granbury Avenue containing 1,342 square feet (0.0308 acres), an ir-
regularly shaped section (27.75' x 47.81' x 25' 35,84° = 1,046 square feet or
0.024 acres) of a 25' access and utility easement and a second irregularly shaped
section of another 25' access and utility easement (25.80' x 54.03' x 29.67' x
57.32' x 28.04' = 1,392 square feet or 0.032 acres), as recommended by the City
Plan Commission.
DISCUSSION
Gerry Curtis, Surveyor, representing Kenneth Garrett, owner of abutting property,
has requested that the City vacate the above-described portion of Granbury Avenue
and portions of two 25' wide access and utility easements, as shown on the
attached map.
The subject street right-of-way and two access and utility easements, acquired by
dedication, are open on the ground, and contain water, sewer, and telephone uti-
lity facilities. The subject vacation request is made in order to replat the
vacated right-of-way and two access and utility easements with adjacent property,
to expand the building area, and provide more usable yard space.
The required and appropriate monetary consideration has been placed in escrow
with the Real Property Department, as required by the Land Agent for the City of
Fort Worth.
Reviewing City departments, and private utility companies have raised no objec-
tions to this request, subject to the vacated right-of-way and the two access and
utility easements being replatted with adjacent property, and any required utili-
ty easements are retained. A satisfactory replat has been submitted,
