ORDINANCE N0. ~~
AN ORDINANCE SPECIFYING THE AUTHORIZED POSITIONS IN THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT AND CREATING NEW POSITIONS IN THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE IS CUMULATIVE;
PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR ENGROSS-
MENT AND ENROLLMENT OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND NAMING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Police Chief has requested the City Council to
specify and authorize the number of positions in the Police
Department for the 1985-1986 Fiscal Year; and
WHEREAS, with the passage of Ordinance 9458, the authorized
number of positions in the Police Department was established as 845,
with authorized staffing levels of 545 Police Officers, 156
Corporal/Detectives, 92 Sergeants, 36 Lieutenants, 12 Captains and 4
Deputy Chiefs; and
WHEREAS, the Police Chief desires to alter the authorized num-
ber of positions by adding 3 Police Officer positions, without
altering the budget of the Department; and
WHEREAS, the alteration of the authorized number of positions
will add three additional Police Officer positions;
WHEREAS, the specification and authorization of these positions
is a necessity; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That the foli~owing-positions are the only positions authorized
in the City of Fort Worth Police Department for the remainder of the
Fiscal Year 1985-1986:
Police Officers 548
Detectives 156
Sergeants 92
Lieutenants 36
Captains 12
Deputy Chiefs 4
TOTAL 848

SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall be cumulative of all provisions of ordi-
nances and of the Code of the City of Fort Worth, Texas (1964), as
amended, except where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct
conflict with the provisions of such ordinances and such Code, in
which event conflicting provisions of such ordinances and such Code
are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3.
It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council
that the sections, paragraphs, sentences, clauses and phrases of
this ordinance are severable, and, if any phrase, clause, sentence,
paragraph or section of this ordinance shall be declared unconstitu-
tional by the valid judgment or decree of any court of competent
jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality shall not affect any of the
remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of
this ordinance, since the same would have been enacted by the City
Council without the incorporation in this ordinance of any such
unconstitutional phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section.
SECTION 4.
The City Secretary of the City of Fort Worth is hereby directed
to engross and enroll this ordinance by copying the caption and
effective date in the minutes of the City Council and by filing the
ordinance in the ordinance records of the City.
SECTION 5.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, and it is so ordained.
