4-29-63 PZ-63 Proposed Closing of Cato Street 1 o 1
The St. Louis and Southwestern Railroad whose right-of-way adjoins Cato
Street, west of North Side Drive, has requested the closing of that
portion of Cato Street between North Side Drive and the railroad property.
It is proposed to include the street with adjoining property for develop-
ment as an industrial tract. An attached map shows the street proposed
for closing.
Private utility companies and municipal departments have been contacted
and offer no objection to the proposed closing providing easements are
retained for all existing utilities. The City Planning Department, the
Public Works Department, and the Traffic Engineering Department agree
that Cato Street serves no purpose in this area and its closing will per-
mit more desirable development- of the property.
The City Plan Commission at its meeting on April 10, 1963, voted unani-
mously to recommend closing of this portion of the street. It is there-
fore recommended that an ordinance be adopted providing that Cato Street,
between. the St. Louis and Southwestern Railroad Right-of-Way and East
North Side Drive be closed as proposed.
