DISCUSSION: Mayor and Council Communication (M&C C-26017, approved on December 18, 2012) authorized the execution of non-exclusive annual contracts with Garrett Demolition, Inc., (City Secretary Contract No. 44188), Intercon Environmental, Inc., (City Secretary Contract No. 44189) and Lindamood Demolition, Inc., (City Secretary Contract No. 44220) for structural demolition and asbestos abatement services for all City departments with a combined not to exceed a total expenditure of $650,000.00 across all three contracts during any one-year term. Total expenditures during the original one-year contract term were $455,715.19. However, during the current (first renewal) term, total expenditures have reached approximately $611,000.00 with three months remaining in the annual term. The amount of work expected for the remainder of the term will exceed the $650,000.00 combined annual limit. A similar volume of work is anticipated for at least the next two years mainly due to an increase in the number of substandard structures being demolished by the Code Compliance Department. The increased aggregate not to exceed amount recommended by this Mayor and Council Communication will allow for continued uninterrupted asbestos abatement and demolition services on an as-needed basis to all City departments. The project will serve in ALL COUNCIL DISTRICTS. FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION: The Financial Management Services Director certifies that funds are available in the current operating budgets, as appropriated, of the participating departments.
