AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND
APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL PURPOSE FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF
$39,358.00, FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS AND SUBJECT TO RECEIPT OF A
GIFT FROM THE FRIENDS OF THE FORT WORTH NATURE CENTER &
REFUGE, INC., FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING PART-TIME STAFF
POSITIONS AT THE FORT WORTH NATURE CENTER & REFUGE;
PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE
CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH;AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2015-2016 in the
Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Special Purpose Fund in the amount of$39,358.00,from available funds and subject to receipt of a gift from
the Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge, Inc., for the purpose of funding part-time staff
positions at the Fort Worth Nature Center&Refuge.
SECTION 2.
That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or
void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way
impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining
provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3.
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 21873-09-2015 and all other ordinances and
appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in
direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions
of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 4.
This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption.

Authorize Acceptance of a Monetary Gift from the Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center& Refuge, Inc.,
in the Amount of$39,358.00 to Fund Part-Time Staff Positions at the Fort Worth Nature Center& Refuge
for Fiscal Year 2016 and Adopt Appropriation Ordinance (COUNCIL DISTRICT 7)
RECOMMENDATION:
|tie recommended that the City Council:
1. Authorize acceptance of a monetary gift in the amount of$39,358.00 from the Friends of the Fort
Worth Nature Center& Refuge, Inc., for the purpose of funding salaries and benefits for Fiscal Year 2016
for five part-time staff positions ct the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge; and
2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Special Purpose Fund in the amount of$39,358.00, subject to receipt of the gift from the Friends ofthe
Fort Worth Nature Center& Refuge, Inc.
DISCUSSION:
The Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center& Refuge, Inc. (Friends), is a non-profit organization formed
in1974tosupport the operation of the Fort Worth Nature Center& Refuge (FWNC&R) through financial
and in-kind contributions.
The Friends wish todonate $3S.358.0O generated through membership dues and various fundraising
efforts to the Park and Recreation Department for the purpose of paying the salaries and benefits for five
part-time staff positions during Fiscal Year 2O10. The five positions will provide professional, clerical and
internship support for the the F\NNC&R'o aduoation, community outreach and natural resource
management programs.
The acceptance of this donation was endorsed by the Park and Recreation Advisory Board on February
24, 2016.
The Fort Worth Nature Center& Refuge is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 7 and serves ALL COUNCIL
DISTRICTS.
This K8&C does not request approval ofe contract with a business entity.
CERTIFICATION:FISCAL INFORMATION I
The Director of Finance certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations and adoption of the
attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated,
of the Special Purpose Fund. Greer Island and the Park and Recreation C>aportnnant in responsible for the
