HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016/04/05-Minutes-City Council-Executive Session CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING CLOSED EXECUTIVE SESSION APRIL 5, 2016 After proper notice given pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Mayor Price adjourned the Council meeting of the Fort Worth City Council at 4:58 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, to convene into the Special City Council Meeting for the closed Executive Session in the Pre- Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building. Present: Mayor Betsy Price (out for 1 e) Mayor Pro tem Salvador Espino, District 2 Council Member W.B. Kayser, City Secretary Fernando Costa, Assistant City Manager Jay Chapa, Assistant City Manager Susan Alanis, Assistant City Manager Valerie Washington, Assistant City Manager Peter Vaky, Deputy City Attorney Carolyn McFatridge, Law Aaron Bovos, Chief Financial Officer Chris Moseley, Law Dana Burghdoff, Planning and Development Randle Harwood, Planning and Development Melinda Ramos, Law Sofia Canady. Risk Management Joel Fitzgerald, Police Chief Mattie Parker, Mayor's Office Denis McElroy, Law Jean Petr, Property Management Liz Casso, Planning and Development Laura Voltman, Planning and Development Tyler Wallach, Law Kelly Madrid, Law With a quorum of the City Council Members present, the Fort Worth City Council convened into closed Executive Session at 5:04 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, in the Pre-Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building to discuss matters pertaining to the following: 1. Seek the advice of its attorneys concerning the following pending or contemplated litigation or other matters that are exempt from public disclosure under Article X, Section 9 of the Texas State Bar Rules and as authorized by Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code: CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 5, 2016 PAGE 2 of 2 a. City of Fort Worth v. Chesapeake Operating, Inc., and Total E&P (USA), Inc., Cause No. 048-268798-13, in the 48th District Court, Tarrant County, Texas; b. Roy Hudson and Dwayne Dalco v. City of Fort Worth, et al., Civil Action No. 4:15-cv- 25-0, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas; c. In re: Energy Future Holdings Corp. et al., Case No. 14-10979, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware; d. Legal issues concerning reimbursements for City volunteers; and e. Legal issues concerning any item listed on today's City Council meeting agendas; 2. Deliberate the purchase, sale, lease or value of real property in accordance with Section 551.072 of the Texas Government Code. Deliberation in an open meeting would have a detrimental effect on the position of the City in negotiations with a third party; and 3. Deliberate concerning economic development negotiations as authorized by Section 551.087 of the Texas Government Code; and 4. Deliberate the deployment, or specific occasions for implementation, of security personnel or devices, in accordance with Section 551.076 of the Texas Government Code; and The council adjourned Executive Session at 5:50 pm and reconvened at 5:59 pm. There was no formal action taken by the City Council on the items discussed during the Executive Session and with no further business to be conducted, Mayor Price adjourned the meeting at 5:51 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016.
