DISCUSSION: This project provides for the construction of Old Denton Road from Heritage Trace Parkway to Golden Triangle Boulevard as a four-lane divided arterial roadway. In addition to the paving and drainage construction, water and sewer lines are to be placed and extended as specified by the Water Department. Construction is funded from the Specially Funded Capital Projects Fund and Water and Sewer Capital Project Funds. The project was advertised in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on November 8, 2012 and November 15, 2012 and the following bids were opened on December 20, 2012: Bidder Bid Amount McMahon Contracting, LP $5,750,394.08 Conatser Construction TX, LP $5,786,650.95 Lonestar Civil Cons., Inc $5,853,801.47 Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating, Inc. $6,014,503.66 Ed Bell Construction Co. $6,072,442.59 Tiseo Paving Co. $6,234,006.58 Jackson Construction, Ltd. $6,516,542.00 JLB Contracting, LLC $6,669,076.74 Staff has reviewed the bids and determined the unit prices are consistent with other recent bid submittals for similar size and type of projects. In addition to the contract cost, $805,055.00 will be included for typical contingencies and City and Consultant furnished construction services for a total project cost of$6,555,449.08. M/WBE Office: McMahon Contracting, LP, is in compliance with the City's BDE Ordinance by committing to 16 percent MBE participation on this combined project. INDEMNIFICATION 75 6.1 Contractor covenants and agrees to indemnify, hold harmless and defend, at its own 76 expense, the city, its officers, servants and employees, from and against any and all 77 claims arising out of, or alleged to arise out of, the work and services to be performed 78 by the contractor, its officers, agents, employees, subcontractors, licenses or invitees 79 under this contract.
