HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 4650-06-2016 A Resolution NO. 4650-06-2016 INITATING THE PROCESS TO REMOVE THE HISTORIC AND CULTURAL LANDMARK(HC) DISTRICT DESIGNATION FROM THE STOP SIX: SUNRISE EDITION NEIGHBORHOOD WHEREAS, a portion of the Stop Six neighborhood, known as Stop Six: Sunrise Edition, is bounded roughly by Stalcup Road on the east,Ramey Avenue on the north, Sheraton Drive on the West, and East Berry Sheet on the south,and is depicted on the map at Attachment A; WHEREAS, Stop Six: Sunrise Edition was nominated as a historic district by Fort Worth City Council on November 28, 2006 and established by the Fort Worth City Council as a Historic and Cultural Landmark district("HC District") on May 15, 2007; WHEREAS,the Stop Six neighborhood constitutes a collection of early 20"'century subdivisions along the Fort Worth-to-Dallas interurban train line,developed circa 1924; WHEREAS, over 68 percent of the properties within Stop Six: Sunrise Edition are non-contributing properties, including non-contributing structures and vacant property,resulting in the historic district no longer meeting the criteria for HC District designation as set forth in the City's Historic Preservation Ordinance; WHEREAS, due to the percentage of non-contributing properties within Stop Six: Sunrise Edition,the Fort Worth City Council desires to direct the Historic Preservation Officer to apply for and submit, on its behalf, an application for the removal of the HC District designation from Stop Six: Sunrise Edition; and WHEREAS,the Fort Worth City Council encourages property owners located within the current Stop Six: Sunrise Edition boundaries to apply for individual Historic and Cultural Landmark designation if removal of the HC District designation is finally approved by the Fort Worth City Council; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE FORT WORTH CITY COUNCIL: That the Fort Worth City Council hereby directs the City's Historic Preservation Officer to prepare and submit an application, on its behalf,for removal of the HC district designation from Stop Six: Sunrise Edition for consideration by the Historic and Cultural Landmarks Commission,Zoning Commission, and the City Council.
