ORDINANCE NO . N
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT MAY STREET BETWEEN
ROSEDALE STREET AND TERRELL AVENUE BE VACATED,
ABANDONED AND CLOSED; PROVIDING FOR THE REVERSION
OF THE INTEREST OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH IN SAID
LAND; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE-
WITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH, TEXAS :
SECTION to
That May Street between Rosedale Street and Terrell
Avenue be and the same is hereby closed, abandoned and perma-
nently vacated as a street or public thoroughfare of any
kind or character whatever, save and except that easements
are reserved for any and all existing utilities .
SECTION 2 .
That the interest of the City of Fort Worth in the fee
to the land in said street is hereby released and shall re-
vert to the adjacent owner of the fee as provided by law.
SECTION 3 .
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4.
That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after the date of its passage.

- The Fort Worth Public Schools have requested the City to vacate May Street
between Rosedale Street and Terrell Avenue as shown on the attached map.
The subject right-of-way, acquired by dedication, is paved and includes
curb and gutter.
The Fort Worth Public Schools have acquired most parcels of property in
the 900 and 1000 blocks of May Street for the purpose of enlarging the
Parker Junior High School Campus with athletic and recreational improve-
ments for the community. The closing of May Street would permit more
effective use of the school campus and eliminate a traffic hazard for school
children.
City departments and private utility companies have reviewed this request
and have no objections to this vacation, provided the applicant plats
the vacated right-of-way with adjoining property and retains the vacated
right-of-way as a utility easement.
The City Plan Commission has reviewed this request and recommends adoption
of an ordinance vacating the public right-of-way as requested, subject
to the conditions recommended above by the City departments and private
utility companies . The applicant has submitted a replat which incorporates
the conditions requested by the City Plan Commission.
Recommendation
It is recommended that an ordinance be adopted vacating subject right-of-way
as recommended by the City Plan Commission.
