Griffin, Treasurer, Maxwell Stebl Company, requesting the closing of the alley in Block 52, Riverside Addition. You will also find attached a plat showing the location of this alley. Maxwell Steel Company owns all of Block 52 and this alley deadends against the CRI&G Railroad right-of-way. This alley has never been opened for public use and there are no utility lines therein. Maxwell Steel Company has con- structed an office building over a portion of the alley. Our recommendation is that the alley be closed as re- quested. Yours very t , C. M. THELIN DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS IPN:soh Attd. February 14, 1950 To the Honorable City Council: Now comes Maxwell Steel Company, a corporation, and res- pectfully presents this its petition to close the alley between the Lots in Block 52, Riverside Addition to the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and in support of its application, says: 1) That petitioner owns all of Block 52, Riverside Addition to the City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas; 2) That when petitioner acquired Block 52, about 1945, there was only one set of improvements on said Block and all other lots therein were vacant and unimproved and said alley had not been opened; 3) That there is attached a survey of Blocks 51 and 52, which shows the alley, as dedicated, between lots in Block 52, the location of the Rock Island tracks, and shows said alley, if on the ground, running into said tracks on the East; 4) That said alley was never opened, or used and the public never acquired any use of said alley because the construction of said Rock Island tracks made it impossible to use said alley; 5) That heretofore, Under Ordinance No. 2 ''. ` , this Honorable City Council closed that portion of Chandler Street lying between Blocks 51 and 52 and North of said tracks, thus, again, making it impossible for the public to use said alley; 6) That petitioner has been granted a permit to build and has con- structed on Block 52 a General Office Building and Warehouse, and said Warehouse covers, in part, portions of said alley shown in the dedication of Block 52. WHEREFORE, petitioner prays this Honorable City Council to close said alley between lots in Block 52, Riverside Addition to Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas and allowing title to said alley to the owner of said Block 52.
