ORDINANCE NO. 8~(~ 9
" AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF THE FORT WORTH
SESQUICENTENNIAL COORDINATING COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR
" APPOINTMENT AND QUALIFICATIONS OF MEMBERS; PROVIDING FOR
DUTIES OF THE COMMISSION; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES AND
REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PRO-
VIDING FOR ENGROSSMENT AND ENROLLMENT OF THIS ORDINANCE;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That there is hereby created the Fort Worth Sesquicentennial
Coordinating Commission, pursuant to City Council Rules of
Procedure, Section 7.2.
SECTION 2.
The Commission shall be composed of eleven (11) members, who
shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the
City Council. The terms of members shall take effect immediately
upon such appointment and shall expire December 31, 1986. Members
shall serve without compensation and shall be subject to removal by
the Mayor at any time, and shall not be considered officers of the
City of Fort Worth.
SECTION 3.
The duties of the Commission shall be to advise the City
Council in the planning and promoting of local, community activities
in celebration of the 1986 Texas Sesquicentennial. In addition, the
Commission will advise the City Council concerning coordination of
activities with the State of Texas Sesquicentennial Commission. The
Commission shall also prepare and recommend to the City Council a
Master Plan for the City of Fort Worth celebration of the sesquicen-
tennial, in preparation for the City's official recognition as a
Texas Independence Community.
SECTION 4.
The Sesquicentennial Coordinating Commission created hereby
shall not be subject to the provisions of Chapter II, Article V, of
the Code of the City of Fort Worth .

SECTION 5.
This ordinance shall repeal every prior ordinance and provision
of the Fort Worth City Code in conflict herewith but only insofar as
any portion of such prior ordinance or provision shall be in con-
flict, and as to all other ordinances or provisions of the Fort
Worth City Code not in direct conflict herewith, this ordinance
shall be and is hereby made cumulative.
SECTION 6.
It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council
that the sections, paragraphs, sentences, clauses and phrases of
this ordinance are severable, and, if any phrase, clause, sentence,
paragraph or section of this ordinance shall be declared unconstitu-
tional by the valid judgment or decree of any court of competent
jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality shall not affect any of the
remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of
this ordinance, since the same would have been enacted by the City
Council without the incorporation in this ordinance of any such
unconstitutional phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section.
SECTION 7.
The City Secretary of the City of Fort Worth is hereby directed
to engross and enroll this ordinance by copying the caption in the
minutes of the City Council and by filing the ordinance in the ordi-
nance records of the City.
SECTION 8.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, and it is so ordained.
