This amendment provided that certain boards and commissions would be excepted from the rule that all boards and commissions will have nine membership places. This exemption applies to boards and commissions, whose size is governed by conflicting state law, City Charter provision or City Council exception. It has come to the attention of staff members that, in order to enhance the efficient administration of certain of the boards and commissions which are excepted from the provisions regarding the number of members, these boards and commissions should also be excepted from the length of terms provisions of Chapter 2, Article V, Section 2-35.2. That is, terms of longer than two years should be allowed in certain instances. It has also been noted that the Neighborhood Resources Development Council should be added to those boards and commissions excepted under the terms of Section 2-35.2. Recommendation It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached ordinance, amend- ing Chapter 2, Article V, Section 2-35.2 of the City Code, to allow for the exception of certain boards and commissions from the length of term provisions of that Article, and adding the Neighborhood Resources Development Council to those boards and commissions excepted under Section 2-35.2 of said Article.
