HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 9944 INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 9944 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council October 11, 2016 r� Page 1 of 1 �i {i7 Y *a SUBJECT: AMENDMENT TO TAX ABATEMENT AGREEMENT WITH WINNER, rrn LLC TO EXPAND THE REINVESTMENT ZONE On May 19, 2015, the City Council authorized a one-year Tax Abatement Agreement with Winner, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company representing FaceBook (Company), (City Secretary Contract No. 46727) and a not-to-exceed 20-year Economic Development Program Agreement (City Secretary Contract No. 46728) for the development of a new Facebook data center on approximately 110 acres of property at the northeast corner of Alliance Gateway and Park Vista Boulevard. This property is included in the Tax Abatement Reinvestment Zone # 90, with an established base year of 2015. Under the Tax Abatement Agreement, Winner, LLC would receive its sole tax abatement for the 2018 tax year through a combination of 10% abatement of ad valorem real property taxes and a Program Grant based on additional tax revenues. The Company has since acquired an additional 40 acres north of the existing 110 acres along Independence Parkway and the tax abatement reinvestment zone must be expanded to include the additional land that is eligible for benefit under the tax abatement agreement. This land will be included in an expanded Tax Abatement Reinvestment Zone #90-A, with an established base year of 2016 for improvements that occur within this zone. This amendment to the tax abatement agreement does not affect the economic development program agreement. Staff will place an M&C for City Council to consider expansion of the reinvestment zone on the October 25, 2016 agenda.
